2007 bottle thanks to ucusty. Not really a DIPA; ASA like Port’s Shark Attack. Pours with a light brown, foamy head covering a hazed deep red body. Great lacing. Aroma of molasses, brown sugar, caramel, plum, raspberry, and citrus hops. Taste is nice and sweet with strong malts and fruits. Taste takes a back seat. Syrupy mouthfeel with nice bubbles. This is a great beer that I would drink all the time if it was available in Dallas!

Bottle from TheBeerCellar. Thanks! Pours a deep muddy brown with a thin head. Retention not so good, lacing good. Aroma is strong malt with an earthy hop profile perfectly blended in. Taste is oily hops with a nutty malt profile. Terrapin is fast becoming a favorite brewery of mine.

Snagged this one in a trade with unclemattie. Thanks Matt! This beer looks awesome. Opaque, thick, deep copper amber color with a thin white head. Smells very sweet, caramel, candy and toffee. Also plenty of milder citrus, orange and flowers. Flavor is also very sweet, chewy grains, candy, caramel, some biscuit with only mild citrus. Heavy mouthfeel, syrupy with a balanced finish mixing sweet candy and slight citrus bitterness. Despite the heavy malts and alcohol, this was very drinkable. I enjoyed this alot.

Bottle. 2007. Rich toffee colored beer with a light tan head. Caramel, dark fruit, and citrus aroma. Citrus, pine flavor with lots of caramel. Not very IIPA like - the impreial red is more like it. Medium bodied. Lingering caramel, grapefruit/lemon, and some summer fruit.

Bottle at home with Tom AND Royce ... lots of pine notes ... very hoppy ... american hop quite well balanced. Am i drunk oh yes i am . :-) )and i blame tom:-) good balance though and great at what it is. some malt but typical american hop... and a big Shout out to my 4 year old Christopeher for recogniisng the 2007 on the label and demonstarting the difference with a 2006 Bourbon country... i knew he knew 1-10 but not those in the 2000’s

12oz bottle-pours a tan head and deep red color. Aroma is medium malt-molasses, citrus/spicy hops. Taste is dark/medium malt-molasses/chocolate, citrus/spicy hops. Ok carbonation.

A good beer. Full bodied and light red color. There is a good hop aroma and hop flavor but overall the hops are surprisingly mild, with citrus and some herbs, and balanced by sweet malt.

2006 bottle. Well this is weird! Not even in the ballpark of double IPA, not even an IPA, but nevertheless a really nice experience. Deep ruby red color with a medium tan head. Big bocky aroma: melanoidin, toffee and that grape hard candy component I get in alot of doppelbocks. There’s also a distinct earthiness and a touch of citric hop. The aroma is somewhere between a doppelbock and a scotch ale. Flavor is deep and darkly malty, melanoidiny sweet. There’s a touch of resiny hop but its effectively masked by the tidal wave of caramelized sugars. Balanced finish. Clean. Fullish mouthfeel. If I rated to style, this would suffer tremendously, but instead I love malt!

It poured a murky red color with lasting tan head. Nice aroma of thick and syrupy malts creating a slight barleywine dark fruitiness with a pine to citrus hop backbone. The flavor is pretty malty for the style which works nicely. It starts with sweet malts and dark fruitiness. Then a drier roasted malts enter to give a nice added maltiness. After that a slight hop flavor joins the fun that is tough to pin down just which hop it may be. Nice mild beer that doesn’t represent the aggressive hoppiness indicated on the label.

Bottle courtesy of shp555: Poured a deep slightly hazy brown color ale with a big foamy head with good retention and lacing. Aroma of sweet caramel malt with some light citrus hops is quite interesting. Taste is sweeter then expected with some great caramel malt and a medium bitter finish. Body is above average with some medium carbonation and no alcohol was discernable. I was expecting more of a citrus bitter ending but I’m not complaining about the balance but maybe I should re-rate with a more fresh bottle next year.
