Multiple bottles over the years. Clear dark ruby body with a beige head. Lively carbonation. Faint lacing. Aroma of raisin, mashed strawberry, liquorice, Marmite and toffee. Flavour of burnt sugar, Calpol and boiled blackcurrant sweets. Medium to full body with a slick and slightly chewy mouthfeel. Light fizz. Sweet and delicious. One of the best doppelbocks I’ve tried.

Backlog July 2008. Clear, deep amber body under a fine tan head. Aroma has dark malt, dry fruit, caramel and some chocolate. Taste is sweet malt, caramel, chocolate, dry fruit and balanced moderate bitterness. Fine balanced body with a fine aftertaste. Nice, tasty and elegant beer.

From Heinrich 3000, in my point of view, it is a superb doppel bock, sweet and malty, toffee, a bit fruity with a subtle final of hop, 09.07.2019

Bottle. Wonderful brown color with a light tan head. Aroma was fruit cake, with hints of herbs, nuts and toast. Flavor was extremely complex with dried fruit and touches of licorice, caramel and a malty, slightly sweet aftertaste. Really great beer.

very dark pour, small beige head.
Aroma is super malty, this is like a malt bomb. Bready, and chewy, like a wonderful fresh loaf of bread. THe flavour is a malt explosion, again, very reminiscent of a big fresh chewy loaf of german bready, a wodnerul sipping treat, i love it!

Bottle from Lekkerbier, St. Nicolaasga. Aroma is brown and dark malt with caramel, roast, some nuts, notes of dried fruits, raisins, and a touch of cocoa. Flavour is proudly bittersweet. Body is slightly above medium. This is how you make a Doppelbock.

Bottle from Beers of Europe. Pours a dark reddish brown with small beige head. Aroma of light roast malt, blackcurrant, chocolate, treacle. Taste is sweet with notes of treacle, tart berries, coffee, caramel, moderate bitterness in the finish. Smooth medium to smooth body. Lovely moreish beer.
