Since Saint Joseph’s Day on 19 March 1993, Andechs Weissbier Hell has found many new friends. Untreated and bottled in its natural state of yeasty turbidity, this is a top fermented beer for the epicure.
Its light honey colour makes it an immediate eyecatcher. Then there’s the opalescence and fine structure of the yeast turbidity. At the same time, the creamy, fine pored head invites you to get to know this light Weissbier from the Holy Mountain. You’ll need two takes to enjoy the aromas to the full.
First, distinctive fruity aromas like banana and honeydew melon come to the fore, followed by fine cloves. Andechser Weissbier Hell is a very tangy, refreshing treat with the conviction of a full, soft body. It concludes on a finely balanced interplay of light sweet honey and a delicate acidity with undertones of bitter hoppiness that quickly subside into a harmonious aftertaste.

Bottle, 0.50l. Cloudy golden color with medium frothy white head and average sparkling appearance. Aroma of wheat, yeast, banana and cloves. Taste starts light sweet grainy and honeyish, follows refreshing citric and grassy with mild spicy mouthfeel and light bitter finish. Light to medium body, slick texture and average carbonation in palate. Well done, but not so special, although I might be a bit spoiled...

One of my favourite weizen! Aroma is light fruit. Not only banana also apple and other sweet stuff. Taste is very mild in perfect harmony with the aroma. Silky smooth mouthfeel that is long lasting. Overall very good.

Pours cloudy light orange from the bottle. The expected sweet banana aroma is accompanied by something more tart - in the direction of green apple. Taste is the expected Weizen, accompanied with bread, banana and the advertised honey melon notes. Very pleasant. The beer has a little bit more carbonation than I would expect in a Weizen and at the outset this seems mask the finish. However as the session progressed the dry and short if crisp ending was increasingly replaced by a lingering sweetness. Very good stuff.

Bottle: Pours hazy, light yellow with a huge white head. Banana, wheat, mild clove aroma. Flavour is soft wheat malt, banana, sweet lemon/citrus. Wonderful.....you won’t find many better than this one.

Pours hazy golden color with nice and creamy white head. Smell of banana, yeast and wheat. Full body with medium carbonation. Very thick and creamy texture. Taste is sweet and fruity. Banana, wheat, yeast, spices, a bit grassy. Very rich and very complex. Overall, beautiful beer. A poetry in a bottle. Loved it!

Cloudy yellow colored, strong puffy creamy white head, nice lacing and lasting. Aroma is of strong cloves and spice, banana and bread, bit citric. Taste is medium sweet wheat, banana bread, strong cloves and spices, low to medium spicey bitterness, orange peel, some citric acidity, dry and bready yeasty finish. Medium bodied, average carbonation.
