Since Saint Joseph’s Day on 19 March 1993, Andechs Weissbier Hell has found many new friends. Untreated and bottled in its natural state of yeasty turbidity, this is a top fermented beer for the epicure.
Its light honey colour makes it an immediate eyecatcher. Then there’s the opalescence and fine structure of the yeast turbidity. At the same time, the creamy, fine pored head invites you to get to know this light Weissbier from the Holy Mountain. You’ll need two takes to enjoy the aromas to the full.
First, distinctive fruity aromas like banana and honeydew melon come to the fore, followed by fine cloves. Andechser Weissbier Hell is a very tangy, refreshing treat with the conviction of a full, soft body. It concludes on a finely balanced interplay of light sweet honey and a delicate acidity with undertones of bitter hoppiness that quickly subside into a harmonious aftertaste.
A Weissbier that embodies a slice of the Andechs lifestyle: finely yeasty, tangy, and sparkling, it refreshes and renews the thirst for more (original extract: 12.5%; abv: 5.5%).

Stunned to realise this easily obtainable top 50 for it's style (no:8 I believe) is a bier I've never had. Picked up in Fristo Getrankemarkt Freising and also Edeka Freising, had this sat outside Friday 23rd June 2023 listening to Steve Lamaq on 6Music, I think that we'll cook a Prawn Curry with Rice tonight. Pours hazy yellow gold with a large white head, lovely mouthfeel has a great freshness on the nose, a little zippy, a touch of spice ripples across the tongue, just the right amount of banana, a fabulous Hefe Weisse.

In der Nase Nase Nelke, im Trunk angenehme Fruchtnoten, wieder Nelke, dabei aber recht cremig, spät leicht bitter, sonst süß, süffig, lecker.

Opaque yellow with a spicy aroma, lasting foam. Taste is sweet wheat, creamy that quickly turns to a citrus and funky and spicy clove finish.

Bottle at home in Hackney - picked up from HOTM. Pours unclear orange-gold with a tight, creamy white topping. Man, that aroma takes me back to my early days of drinking beer. Big wheat, citrus, yeast. Light-medium sweet flavour with fresh wheat bread, a little white sugar, low bitterness, nips of lemon rind, tangerine, mild phenolic notes. Light to medium bodied with time, massaging carbonation. Restrained sweet finish, more fresh wheat bread. Delicious.
