Det er en stout humlet som en India Pale Ale med tydelig bitterhed og en tør finish. Øllet holder 8,5% alkohol og små 80 IBU. Den er brygget på Maris Otter Malt, røgmalt, britiske specialmalte og rørsukker. I både smag og aroma bærer den præg af en af mine favorithumler: Zeus (nogen gange kaldet Columbus eller Tomahawk), der er brugt i kedlen sammen med tjekkisk Saaz humle og alene som tørhumle. Den er lækker at drikke nu mens humlen er frisk, men da den er eftergæret på flasken har den bestemt også lagringspotentiale, vil jeg mene.

(Bottle) Black colour with thick, lasting, pale brown head. Malty, roasted nose with notes of liquorice, soy sauce, strong black coffee, cocoa and pine needles. Malty, roasted taste with strong black coffee, liquorice, soy sauce, pine needles, lots of dark chocolate and cocoa coming through after a while and a generous piney, citric bitterness in a fairly dry finish. Almost full body, with smooth mouthfeel. A certain initial sweetness, that dries out towards the end. Very tasty and quite well balanced. Lovely beer!

Botella de 50 cl en Cimeria. Marzo de 2013. Black ipa bastante buena con ligeros toques dulces iniciales y bastante amargor seco final y en retrogusto. Bastante buena y para repetir

A deep dark IPA with a thin lacing brown head. In aroma, nice sweet chocolate and licorice with smooth floral hops. In mouth, a nice sweet fruity and chocolaty malt with resinous and herbaceous hops, dark fruits, molasses, very nice. On tap at Vermont ale house.

Bottle 0.5l at Pikkulintu, Helsinki. Colour is dark brown with small white head. Aromas and flavours: Fruits, hops and roasted malts.

On tap @ Animal. Very dark brown colour with an off-white head with a medium lasting. Aroma is fresh, hoppy , notes of licorice and toasted malts. Flavor is toasty, with a decent bitterness, light toffee and coffee notes, licorice hints as well. Final with a mild bitterness.

Continuing my euro night. Pours black with nice head screaming drink me. Nose of chocolate and hops. Tastes of roasted malt, bitter dark chocolate, earth, resin, citrus, pine. Smoky finish. Really nice

Bottle - Leafy pine aroma, almost minty, dark roasted malts and very herbal. Almost jet mahogany with a nice creamy brown head. Coffee, roasted malts and a nice finish where the hops finally make their presence known. Finish is very long. This would be a home run if there was more of a hop presence in the taste, but it is still a very good beer.

From a 500ml bottle on 20/5/2013. Pours the darkest of amber (not far off black) with a medium head which subsides quite quickly. The aroma is lovely with lots of soft fruity notes (cherries and plums perhaps) with some distinct piney hoppy notes. In the mouth it starts out sweet with a huge combo of flavours including dark fruit, chocolate, caramel, a hint of toffee and coffee, with some mild roasty notes. This set off against a lovely, strong, slightly resiny, lingering hop finish. The body is relatively full and the carbonation medium. This is really lovely stuff - it really does have a touch of sweet stout combined with a quality IPA.

Ein Bier aus dem Bier-Index-Probierpaket. Nett gestaltetes Etikett mit 2 Hopfenkopf-Men-in-Black. Ein gutes Bier mit vollen Körper und einem wunderbarem Aromenspiel. Ein Black IPA aus einer Zeit, als man noch nicht viel Erfahrung mit Black IPAs hatte.
