Prost means "cheers" in German- a gesture of friendship and an enjoyment of the moment. Our Maibock style lager is brewed just like the celebratory beer traditionally served at the May festivals: rich and malty, with slightly spicy notes from the Hallertau and Tettnang hops. ALC 7.3% BY VOL and 26 bitterness units.

Bottle. Richer then the Joseph’s Brau Maibock. Wonderful deep golden color with an orange hue and a nice three finger head. Aroma is bread, grains with a slight hint of clover honey. Taste was sweet up front, bread in the middle with a tad of a bitter finish.

12 Fl Oz bottle on 2nd March 2019 while stayingat my daughters in Orange County, California. Clean and clear looking body, amber in colour, on top a thin off-whitehead. Intense aroma of malty molasses, toffee and caramel esters filling your nose. Sweet malts also lead the way in the taste, again with toffee and caramel playing major parts within the flavour. My sweet tooth really enjoyed this.

Deep dark amber coloured body with a light tan head, about a centimetre tall. Aroma of grass, dry malt, a hint of sugars and very little else, but perhaps that’s nice? Light-bodied; Assertive earthy and cardboardie malts up front with a big dose of lager yeast, some bananas and clove flavours escape the vacuum and a bit of sweetness comes through at the end. Aftertaste shows a bit of dry funk along with some grassy qualities, but little else in terms of smooth flavous, yet subdued richness, but goes down fairly easy. Overall, a decent beer with a decent profile, nothing pungent or extremely bitter, and goes down over time with an easy-to-drink finish. I sampled this twelve ounce bottle purchased from Trader Joe’s in Washington (West End - Foggy Bottom) on 11-March-2017 for US$1,09 sampled at home in Washington on 25-April-2017.

Bottle. Copper red with small creamy beige head, spicy aroma, faintly sweet caramel flavored malt taste, medium carbonation, abrupt finish with caramel aftertaste. Nicely balanced.

12 ounce bottle. Pours a copper color with a large creamy beige head. Malty nose hints at caramel and biscuit. Flavor matches nose, with some residual sweetness and toasted nuts flavor. Spicy hops in finish balance this nicely. Good flavor at a decent price. $6.99 per six-pack.

I’ve got to hand it to Trader Joe’s for having a fairly extensive line up of german style brews available at such affordable prices - sure, the quality is inconsistent, but it’s nice to have some decent beer available so cheaply - anyway, this one pour a clear light amber - spare lace - nose of moderately rich maltiness, some brined cherries - flavor isn’t terribly complex, but it is clean, medium sweet, some cherry and doughy malts, with light balancing acidity and bitterness - well-masked alcohol - it won’t be winning any awards, but it’s a decent rendition for a solid price.

12 oz. bottle purchased at Trader Joe’s Portsmouth, NH. Color is amber hued gold with slow fading head. Aroma is burnt toast and sicking sweet toffee and honey.

I paid $1.17 for the bottle so I wasn’t expecting much. It’s all about setting realistic expectations for a Trader Joe’s brew. The flavor is massive sweet honey and caramel with a light toasted grain finish. Body is real thin with a lightly creamy smooth texture. Drinkable but overly sweet.

A chlorine bock miscategorized as a heller bock. Lot’s of wooden astringency here and a trashy finish. Pours brown. Very bad even for a random category. Bottle.

Trader Joe’s, Union Square 12oz ($2): Pours orange/bronze color with a quickly dissipating head. Aroma is light toffee, bubblegum, and generic maltiness. Taste is slightly hoppy, moderately sweet, and lingering for a moment or two. Easy to drink, but easy to forget.
