You can spot a true original a mile off. Like our Original brew. Bristol born and made to stand out. Created from Maris Otter malt and a secret blend of English hops. Meticulously crafted before ‘craft’ was even a thing. Its distinctive bitter, clean and refreshing flavour has been Bristol’s go-to for good times since the 1970’s. From the first sip to the last drop, you’ll never taste a beer quite like it.

Cask at the Duke of St Albans, Highgate on 7th October 2025. Clear, rich dark coppery brown with shallow, yellowy white foam and scant lacing. Mild maltiness in aroma. Richly fruity in-mouth with berries on a strong malt substructure. Some earthy pungency and a few grasses make for a glorious blend. Earthy malt finish. Medium bodied with a velvet smooth mouthfeel.

Reminds me a bit of McEwans Export/80 shilling beers. Also had this previously on cask and remember enjoying it

Cask at Little Man, Wettenhall (Cheshire – not listed in RateBeer). Pours a bright golden amber with a medium sized off-white head. Malts to the fore in the aroma with some fruity hints. In the mouth it is sweet with malts dominant, plus a sprinkling of traditional hops and traces of autumn fruits. This is a decent old school bitter.
