Bottle from Total Wine in Sacramento, CA. Pours translucent gold with a finely bubbled white head. Aroma is tropical - and for some reason my brain says guava rather than mango. Med body. Flavor is somewhat mango, but guava dominates for me. A mystery. But it turns out well in the end. (Watch Shakespeare in Love). Nice tropical flavors, but it’s bitter. Works nicely for me.

Could drink a few of these.

12 ounce bottle into pint glass, best before 3/17/2017. Pours slightly hazy medium golden/yellow color with a 1 finger dense white head with good retention, that reduces to a small cap that lingers. Nice webby soapy lacing clings down the glass, with a fair amount of streaming carbonation. Aromas of big juicy mango, melon, pineapple, passion fruit, papaya, peach, lemon zest, grapefruit, orange peel, citrus rind, light pepper/pine, cracker, bread, herbal, and floral/grassy earthiness. Dam nice aromas with great balance and complexity of mango, citrus/tropical hops, and moderate pale malt notes; with great strength. Taste of big juicy mango, melon, pineapple, passion fruit, papaya, peach, lemon zest, grapefruit, orange peel, citrus rind, pepper, pine, cracker, bread, herbal, and floral/grassy earthiness. Moderate pine/citrus rind/spicy bitterness on the finish; with lingering notes of mango, melon, pineapple, passion fruit, papaya, peach, grapefruit, lemon/orange rind, pepper, pine, cracker, bread, and herbal/floral/grassy earthiness on the finish for a good bit. Great complexity, robustness, and balance of mango, citrus/tropical/pine hops, and moderate pale malt flavors; with a nice malt/bitterness balance, and no lingering hop/fruit astringency after the finish. Light-moderate dryness from lingering bitterness, increasing through the glass. Medium carbonation and light-medium body; with a very smooth, moderately crisp/sticky/resinous, and fairly grainy/bready balanced mouthfeel that is nice. Zero warming alcohol as expected of 5.5%. Overall this is a great fruited American pale ale! All around great complexity, robustness, and balance of mango, citrus/tropical/pine hops, and moderate pale malt flavors; very smooth, crisp, and refreshing to drink; despite the increasingly bitter/drying finish. Very bright/dank on hops with balanced fruit; with a nice solid malt backbone. A very enjoyable offering.
