Meh.... not the best. The spice level is too high, and too manufactured. Blast! October!!!

This ale poured a deep amber colour with a tan coloured, foamy hard. Minimal lacing. Scents include ripe fruit, apple cider and a little paint? First swig had rich malty flavours and a slight tinge of that paint flavour that wasn't bad, just different. Finish was medium bitter with those malty flavours lingering. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Draught. Clear reddish brown with small beige spongy head, nuts aroma, sweetish nutty taste, thin body, low carbonation, abrupt finish with an astringent aftertaste. Not my favorite beer.

New Beer Distributors, NYC bottle ($1.75): Pours mahogany with a light beige head. Aroma is carmel, some fruit, nuts. Taste is sweet. Quite malty. Not overly sweet or heavy though. Not bad for a brown ale. Minimal bitterness, some earth.

Reviewed from notes. She pours a nice brown colored body with a decent sized foamy off-white head that gave some nice clingy lacing. The aroma has a nice nutty caramel maltiness with a decent balance of subdued hops. The taste is mainly sweet with some balance as it warms. On the palate, she sits about a light to medium, comes across fairly sessionable, dry and bitter aftertaste and finish. Overall, hmmm...when I lived in Maine, I would have this every Autumn as this is my go-to Autumn brown ale, maybe not a standout, but can be found anywhere in Maine. Hats off to Geary’s for a memory.

From a twist off bottle that I couldn’t twist off,, tear my shirt. Sweet aged old lager aroma. Fading foamy head with a variety if bubble sizes. Nice dark looking beer. A big strong malt impact, are we sure this is not old lager? Starts to smell a little more metallic. Flavor is almost a tad cloying. Some co2 in there. A little difficult at times for a lager lover. Same with the finish, somewhat medicinal. Not too excited about this one.

On cask. Deep amber color with thick lasting head retention. Aroma of nuts, chocolate and yeast. Malt is the main player with hops being real subtle. Flavor of malts, nuts, brown sugar, and a hint of chocolate. Medium body. Pretty decent on cask. Don’t think I would ever reach for a 6 pack but it didn’t have any problems.

another solid beer from Geary’s. Almost black in color, actually looks like a baltic porter, but smells like the bread and butter malts, taste is pretty similar but with a little hop spice in the back end. Very enjoyable but could do with a little something extra that makes it unique.

tap at a pizza place in Portland - Pours amber with a light tan head and good lacing. The aroma is mild caramel malt. It tastes of toasted caramel malt, mostly sweet, with some good mild bitterness and toasty character in the finish of this well made medium bodied brown ale.
