A dense tan head on a dense, near black body. The nose is a party - some booze, ripe berries, coffee and fruity hops. This is a stupendous imperial stout. First taste is near burnt toffee, toast, and fresh ground, slightly bitter coffee. Other tastes include ripe berries, fruity hops, unsweetened chocolate and a touch of leather. Solid carbonation and a dense, rich body finish off a masterpiece.

Bottle at home. Aroma is roasted malt, caramel, dark chocolate, mocha, coffee, espresso, liquorice, light creamy notes. Flavour is above medium sweet with a moderate roasty bitter finish. Body is full. Lovely smooth roasty chococolate coffee liquorice Stout, big sweet flavour. Great!

Backlog September 2011. Dark brown, almost black body under a one finger thick beige head. Strong aroma of roasted, dark malt, caramel, coffee and dry fruit. Taste is sweet, dark, roasted malt, coffee, chocolate, licorices and balanced bitterness with some warming alcohol. Fine body, nice aftertaste. Nice one.

Bottle from Liquid Hops. Black, brown foam. Chocolate foam and tart fermented berries, coffee, light funk. Medium full dry body, coffee and cocoa powder, light minerals, berry, some smoke, a bit cognac. Rich, but well balanced dry. Quite pleasant.

Bottle. Pours black with a medium mocca head. Aromas of coffee roast, bitter chocolate, licorice. Taste is deep coffee roast, bitter chocolate, licorice, vanilla, dark dried sweet fruits, light smoke. Quite a nice strong one!

Keg at Brewdog Camden. Jet black with thin golden head. Slick and oily texture. Aroma wood smoke, coffee bitterness, spirit booziness, roast malt. Taste is warming, roasty, slightly bitter, but with vanilla creaminess. Quiet a boozy kick. Lovely and smooth. Did the black and tan thing with the Yin and Yang too. It was dark brown beige, with bubbly thin head. Aroma pure booze and coffee. Very thick, bit creamy coffee, quiet subtle and very roasty. Chocolate and a bit spicy. Lovely. Ar8 Ap4 Ta8 Pa4 Ov15

Bottle. Almost black and opague. Roasty with dried fruit and ash in the aroma. Malty sweet, roasty raisinny flavor with hints f ash. Dried fruit. Coffee. Full bodied, slightly alcoholic but loads of flavor.
