Tap at Fakin, Zagreb. Misty red-amber body, tan head if I remember correctly. Boozy barleywineish malty aroma, choco-caramel, light marzipan, alcohol. Malt-driven dry candish malty taste - quite lovely - edged by some alcohol but also by a nicely distinct hoppy bitterness, very well integrated and a perfect counterpoint to the malt assault. I was never impressed by the regular Arrogant Bastard (there, I said it), somewhat wimpy for all its bluster when I've had it, but its big brother is definitely an excellent beer.

2015er version, many thanks to Werckmeister for organising this bottle! Smooth mild floral intense beginning. Fruity, warming and malty grainy. Pine, malt, warming floral. Round and fresh, smooth, sticky but still sessionable! Great stuff!

2015 Bottle at home, shared with the Beast, 13th January 18. Pours dark mahogany brown, not much head. Aroma is cararmel, dark fruit and malt. Taste is complex, bitter and sweet, loads of malt, caramel and older hops, giving some great bitterness still. Reminded us both of Brewdog Hardcore a little, with more malt. Not overly sweet and a great beer, that drank below the 11.0 ABV.

2009 vintage, tap at Stone Berlin. Pours clear, deep amber with a small, beige head. A little bit of cardboard, loads of caramel. Still sticky and resinous. Well aged and well hidden ABV.

From Mar 2008

his one pours a clear red with a 1 finger head of foam which shrinks during the session to a fine layer with lots of lacing.

The smell is very malty with lots of caramel. Nice. There's also a fairly faint, compared to the malt, nose of hops.

The taste has notes of caramel malt up front followed by some fruit(black cherry), and citrus and piney hops and a pretty big dose of alcohol.
Lots of warming during and after the swallow.

The more sips I take, the less I notice the alcohol and now I'm able to really start focusing on the flavours and man, it's so tasty and so well balanced that I don't want the bottle's contents to leave. *Very* nice sipping Strong Ale and with its creamy smooth mouthfeel and nicely done light carbonation, this is certainly a great brew worthy of its reputation. Highly recommended.
