4 oz draft pour at ChurchKey during the Deschutes Launch Party event. Darky ruby brown with off-white head. Aromas of caramel, toffee, dark fruit. Tastes of caramel, toffee, dark fruit. Medium body with a dry finish.

Dark orange red. 1 finger sticky with legs. Nose is bitter orange, sugar and herbal spice. Taste has a lot of anise and licorice. Very herbal almost too much going on. Finish is sweet red vines.

The beer is a copper-brown color with a thin light beige head that dissipates quickly. Stringy lacing on the glass. Aroma of oaky bourbon, caramel and citrus. Rich body with an ever-present oak character and flavors of caramel malt, citrus and touches of vanilla and dark fruit. The finish is malty with a lingering citrus and mild hop aftertaste. Enjoyable beer all around.

The date on the bottle reads \"Best after 02/24/15.\" However, I have another bottle so I’ll be sure to note the changes in this sometime after that date.
This was poured into a snifter.
The appearance was a decent looking dark amber to brown color with a one finger white foamy head that dissipated within less than thirty seconds. A nice thin lacing sticks finely to the glass.
The smell starts off with a nice caramel malt to it and eventually allows a nice blended tobacco (English Barleywine, maybe?) to cocoa to vanilla to light citrus all combining themselves fairly nicely.
The taste was sticky sweet through all of the previously mentioned flavors smacking themselves together in a sticky sort of mess, but a mess in a good way.
On the palate, this one sat right at a medium with a fairly good sipping quality about it. I almost wanted to straight up just drink this, but honestly for the most part, this one is a sipper. Though the carbonation comes across fairly subdued, there’s a good deal of nice creamy smoothness all over.
Overall, this was a really nice Barleywine probably closer to the English style. I would definitely love to have this again and can’t wait to open up my other bottle.

Tasting at Chez Bruce. Thanks to Colin. Hazy deep amber beer, good bubbly pale tan head. Palate is airy and a little dry. Light fine carbonation. Sweetish light malt with a nice toffee streak. Spice. Touch of dried fruits but it’s mostly toffee and big beer spice. Light dry finish.

Bottle split at Bruce’s pad, big thanks to my OR supplier - he of said pad, 28/05/14. Dark amber with a moderate light beige swirl and edgeing. Nose is toffee, woody notes, dark fruits, vanilla, light booze, figs and dates. Taste comprises caramel, fruit cake mix, light spice, vanilla, bread pudding, dates, light boozey wash through, candied orange peel. Medium + body, fine carbonation, sweet licks in a drying close. Solid barley wine.

650 ml bottle. Pours a deep mahogany with moderate head. Aromas of brown sugar, raisins, malts and light alcohol. Flavors are rich and similar with caramel and noticeable ABV heat. Worth cellaring.

Bottle shared in LDN - big thanks to Deeblo. Pours clear, righteous amber with a frothy, yellow-tan head. The aroma has booze-soaked fruits, caramel, dates. Medium to big sweet flavor with nice graham crackers, toffee, a bit of earth and pine, more dates, berries, some tannic wood. Full bodied, somewhat oily, with fine, massaging carbonation. Warm finish with liquefied fruits, dates, alcohol, bitter wood, earth, leathery berries. Good stuff.

Bottle thanks to Bruce. It pours deep brown with a small light tan head. The nose is sweet, toffee, fudge, leather, brown sugar, candied orange peel, pear drops and sweet apple. The taste is sweet, fruit cake, brown bread, bourbon, warming alcohol, gingerbread, toasty, decent enough bitterness, light spice and earth with a dry, earthy finish. Full body, fine carbonation and sticky mouth-feel. Decent enough stuff. Enjoyable stuff, not overly sweet.
