Brown Ale aged in used Pinot Noir barrels from local Sonoma County wineries. It is aged for about 12 months with sour cherries, brettanomyces, lactobacillus, and pediococcus added to each barrel. Flavors from the cherries, Pinot Noir and oak balance each other nicely with a little funk from the brett.

Backlog November 2009. Almost clear reddish golden body under a small off-white head. Aroma is acidic with oak, barnyard and funk. Taste has a nice and well made combination of malt, acidic berries, oak, caramel and funk with an alcoholic touch. Medium body with a pleasant, long lasting aftertaste. Well made and balanced.

375mL bottle. Pours a dull ruddy brown with a slight haze and minimal head. Loads of musty red wine grape skins and red berries on the nose. Flavour has musty grape skins, dried berries, dark fruits, very gentle balsamic. Good level of funk; the pinot noir barrels work very well with the base beer. A work of art.

Batch 002, courtesy of Irishboy, thank you!!!
pours an amber/orange color. nice finger of head. Aroma is very much like a lambic. Sour and funk, and barnyard with a tinge of cherry, and some flemish sour all combined in one. Flavour is sour, and tastes just like a good lambic, but its smooth, and the finish is big on the cherry. The finish is also very fresh, and the cherry lasts a long time. Wow, what an amazing beer!

Bottlecraft, Little Italy, 2/24. Dense, hazy, dull cherry, lacy, stagnant pour. Cherry medicinal, herbal hop nose. Deep cherry, vinous, soda burn, lime, slightly medicinal. More tart then sour. Bruin finally comes through on the finish. I remember this being better.
