Bottle 33 cl. Pours dark brown with an orange hue and a lacing, beige head. Surprisingly timid aroma, perhaps a hint of wood and dark, dried fruits. Not much more than a medium body. Super dry and almost ashy. Some bitter English liorice notes and a dry, bitter finish. Too attenuated, lacks sweetness and body. 270825

Bottle, at Ølfestivalen, Nærbø. Not really sure where this came from, didn't think it was part of the festival, but it seems the chocolate stand served some beer too, and this was a fine choice with the lightly salty dark chocolate. Anyway, it sure was a good one. Close to black in the glass, topped by a dense, finger-thick beige head. The aroma has lots of salty licorice, along with burnt malts, some coffee and caramel. It's full-bodied, warming and soft on the palate, with a nice bitterness dealing with the sweetness. Not that it's very sweet, but perhaps a bit warming. Roasted malts, burnt notes, coffee hints and a good dose of licorice in the lasting flavor. Sure worth a token or two. 171021

330ml bottle shared with Finn at Vertshuset Skarven. A firm, bubbly, fawn-coloured head over a pitch black body. Laces well. Dark doughy smell, mid-sweet and slightly roasted. Liquorice, soft chocolate. and dough to the taste character. Long-lived, roasted, malt-driven end, warming down the swallow. Fine depth. Pleasant stout. (Tromsø 25.08.2018).
