Gageleer Original is a golden colored beer that forms a perfectly beautiful white foam collar in a gageleer glass. It is brewed with honest organic ingredients: the finest barley malt, partly from local Campine organic farmers, and bog myrtle from De Liereman (a nature preserve in the Campine village of Oud‐Turnhout), without additives or preservatives.

Bottle Large, rocky, off-white head, which is fully lasting. Yellow, hazy body. Grass in the nose. Medium bodied. Soft carbonation. Lightly sweet, lightly bitter initial flavour. Lightly bitter finish.

Bottle: Poured a hazy dark yellow beer with a huge head with incredible retention (I never though I’d mentioned that in a review, but the head was so persistent that it was still there 30 minutes after the beer was poured. The aroma is quite herbal and spicy, very different from the usual Belgian ale. Taste was also quite different with the herbal and spicy feeling coming out. I notice when I read the label that the beer does not contains any malt and has been replaced with a plant called ‘’myrica gale’’, which can probably explain the difference in taste and aroma. Different, complex and interesting…

Cloudy yellow color, frothy head. Aroma is yeasty sour, vanilla, herbal/vegetable. Sweet yeasty taste. Bit sticky palate.
