Draught at CBC Boston, 9/23/17.
Dark ebony of undetermined clarity. Small tan head atop showing moderate-to-low retention.
Strong coffee in the nose is quite fruity, dark and roasty. Baker's chocolate emanates from the roasted barley and the beer seems to be on the lighter, more attenuated side. No big fudge notes and not a boozy mess.
Dry, well-attenuated and reasonably dosed with coffee, it shows great balance with tons of chocolate, dark fruit and moderate caramel. Starts out a bit thin and a touch lacking of malt depth but gains a bit of chewiness and sweet, vanilla-fudge character on the finish, as it warms. Low but engaging carbonation. Clean, low alcohol apparency.

All carbonation gone. No viscosity, virtually black beer. Dry, cold coffee, coffeedregs, roast, ashes. Coffee, toffee, roast, chocolate (bitter and sweet). Thin body, lifeless. Long lasting flavours. Not in peak condition. And I’m no coffee fan anyhow. Thanks for sharing, guys!

Bottle. Pours inky black, small dark brown head, wisp of residual and lacing. Aroma is molasses, anise, roasty, coffee. Flavor is medium sweet, light plus bitter, loads of molasses and anise almost dominates the coffee. Not much cocoa. Full body, creamy mouthfeel, a hint of finishing acidity.

Bottle shared @ Don’t want anything to do with carnaval tasting. Opaque pitch black color, medium sized quite creamy mocha head that lasts for quite a long time. Aroma is malts, huge roast, huge coffee indeed. Taste malts, roasted malts, huge coffee again, firm roast bitter although there’s also a slight sweetish liquorice hint in there. Full body, suitable soft carbonation.

Bottle. Coffee in beer form. Strong flavour throughout, with noticeable cacao on the palate. Sweet, smooth and round, not quite as complex as others of this caliber though.
