500ml bottle picked up at the Fine Food store at Kastrup Airport. One-finger, frothy white head on top of a golden-orange coloured body, with a slight haze. Sweet fruits plus pale malts to the nose. Grassy hops and pale malts in flavour. Bite of herbal dryness on the swallow. Oily palate. Soft in the mouth. Ok, a little bland and thin, though (Tromsø, 18.02.2011).

500 ml bottle, at Murphy’s 8541 Irish pub, Skødstrup. ABV is 5.2%. Pilsener with birch syrup added. Golden colour, slightly hazy, moderate head. Nice aroma of Saaz hops and birch syrup. Fresh pilsener flavour with moderate but noticeable hops, the birch syrup is present as an airy notion in the background. Well worth sampling.

Medium white head. Paleish yellow body with light carbonation. Neutral mealy apple aroma. Dry-sweetish mealy apple taste with something spicy and herbal, which might well be birch syrup. Mid-bodied. Clean, fresh palate. Dryish mealy herbal aftertaste with grassy notes. Fresh spicy herbal taste grows more prominent with time. Perfectly decent, but unremarkable. (0.5l bottle, Oslo-Copenhagen ferry.)

Bottle. A yellowish golden beer, more or less clear, with a white head on top. Sourish aroma initially, is that the birch sap? Some resiny notes too, hops I guess. A decent aroma, but hard to pin. The flavor has some sweetness, but there’s also a dry, sourish touch. Medium body and a nice co2 level. A strange beer, maybe the ageing hasn’t done any good to it, but it was far from BB-date. Sure drinkable, but only one glass I think. (090430)

Had this on tap at Dronning Louise Esbjerg, Jutland, Denmark 22-09-08 What a fantastic pub this was and with probably the best member of staff encountered throughout our entire trip, let us taste what we want, very very friendly and knowledgeable, food also great Anyway back to the beer. This poured a hazy lemon colour with wispy bits of white froth. Unusual flavour which I was later informed by the bar lady, Manager? That this was birch. Good tang and with some bitterness, very nice beer, they also do an oak beer.

Hazy blond color. It has light Saaz aroma, some more Saaz flavor, but not much malt, and with a too dry mouthfeel; the bitterness is also a bit harsh at the end; with a better malt it could be ok.

Hazy blond coilor. Light sweet hoppy aroma. Simple and light flavor, but not without a valilla hop touch. Easy, but pleasant.
