Di colore scuro e dal carattere profondo, questa Black IPA non filtrata trasuda caramello. Note tostate e un amaro audace, agrumato e resinoso. Il tutto grazie alle grandi quantità di luppolo utilizzate e mixate perfettamente con la complessità dei malti caramellati e tostati, anche loro gettati nel calderone senza lesinare. Go Black: un altro grande passo sulla strada che conduce a Cascadia.

Tap @ Hoppy Days during ’oudjaarsticken 2014’, medium sample. Dark brown color, short frothy head. Aroma of hop, earthy, grassy, grapefruit, slight roast and caramel. Medium bitter in taste, bit sweet from caramel. Easy drinker.

Bottle share for Colin’s 40th. Thanks to Tommy. Mahogany brown small cream head. Aroma is Roasty, piney needle, orange. Flavour is hint of smoke, nutty toast and pine, orange peel hop. Palate is semi sweet, semi sweet, highish carb. Not bad.

Bottle thanks to Tommy M. It pours deep brown with a small beige head. The nose is sweet chocolate, earth, candied citrus, orange, dirt and cake. The taste is bitter-sweet, stewed citrus, earth, dirt, cocoa, caramel, toffee, fruit cake, pepper, orange rind and light astringency with a dry finish. Medium body and moderate carbonation. Solid cda.

01/10/2013 La Tanat (tap). Bruna, torbida, schiuma beige non molto abbondante. Al naso sentori di malti tostati e luppolo, note erbacee e una punta di agrumato, leggerissimo metallico. In bocca ha una base di malto importante, tostato e finale molto amaro, lungo e persistente. un po’ sgraziata forse e l’alcol si sente troppo. Corpo medio, carbonazione media. Andrebbe rifinita, forse la cotta precedente era migliore.

Tap at Bir & Fud, Roma, 21/06/13. Listed as ’Pontino - Go Black’. Black with a medium sized tan head, good lacing ensues. Nose is light roast, tropical fruit sundae, chocolate, light charred notes. Taste comprises burnt sugar, bitter grapefruit, cocoa dusting, good roast bite, light smoke, mineral notes, touch of hops. Medium bodied, fine carbonation, roasty finish. Decent CDA.

Keg at Luppolo12 - Roma. Pours deep brown with a beige foam head. Baking cocoa and charry roast aroma. Light to medium sweetness, rich baking cocoa, bitter earth, some roast. Light to medium bodied with fine carbonation. Burnt bread in the finish, some darkened pine, light bitter grass, earth, toast, burnt wood, gritty cocoa. Good.
