Can, 11.5%. Very caramelly aroma with a tad of toffee. Clear deep brown colour. Small tan head. The flavour is very malty with malt syrup notes, spicy malts, woody acid, warning alcohol. Peppery finish. Not too sweet. Good.

Clear, chestnut color and a tan head. Sweet nose, malty and rich, overipe and dried fruits, caramel, faint plums. Taste follows the nose, intense mouthfeeling, warming. Long, sweetish finish.

Well stored bottle. Almost clear, deep amber body under a fine, medium sized beige head. Aroma is typical US barley wine with caramel malt, dry fruit, ripe fruit, bread and vinous alcohol. Taste is very sweet, still some kind of balance against bitterness and alcohol. Caramel malt, bread, dry fruit, hoppy bitterness, brown sugar and fortified wine. Full bodied and long lasting aftertaste with sweet, warming alcohol.

can from hopt maghoni brown, smooth small light brown head. nutty malty aroma, stale hops, faint caramel, decent barley wine aroma, but a bit subtle, not in-your-face brutal as is many american barley wines. imho aroma is more like european barley wine. Flavor is really good, strong sweet malts, nutty sweet, balanced with a good blend of alc bitterness and aromatic yet anonymous hop bitterness, they did very well to make this taste like barley wine, not like double-ipa. almost syrupy notes. near perfect. if anything , perhaps a little bit too much nutty bitterness, but we're pretty close to my idea of a perfect barley wine taste. The alcohol is well hidden, does not interfere with the great taste - and the beer is not overly sweet even though it packs a pretty punch with 11.5% abv.

Can, 0.33l. Murky deep red/brown pour, no head. Very nice and sweet on the nose, caramel and toffee, raisins, dried fruits. Full body, soft carbonation. Thick and creamy mouthfeel, smooth texture, soft and chewy. Very nice. Sweet taste with subtle boozy bitterness for the balance. Aromaof caramel, sugar, molasses. Candy. Raisins. Ripe red fruits. Nicely balanced alcohol, subtle lingering burn, not so dominant in the taste itself. Mild stickiness. Long lasting finish, dry, sweet and liquory. Excellent.

33cl can as simply Barley Wine, from hopt.it. Pours reddish brown, medium transparency, with quickly fading foam. Aroma is heavily/intensely malty, molasses, figs. Body is fairly thickand sticky, with medium carbonation but with rather fine bubbles. Taste is pretty sweet, even more in the final, which is balanced by some spiciness.
