This is the second in our series of Barrel Aged Specialty Ales. Felice was fermented and aged four months with Brettanomyces and Saison yeast in freshly emptied wine barrels. As a twist, Indian Long Peppers were added after barrel aging. A mix of tropical fruit flavors up front are complimented by an earthy and spicy finish on the palate. This complex beer reveals nuances and exotic whispers of clove, nutmeg, cardamom and black pepper that the ancient Long Pepper introduces.

Bottle. Amber with small white head that doesn't last. 3- Aroma of nectarines, crackers, grapey funk, spices. Lightish but has some presence for its size. Lowish carbonation. Fairly dry and a bit zingy (and not sour at all). Just ripe nectarines, old white grapes, tropical fruit cup, spices that are not obviously additions. Just a hint of heat at the end. Refreshing. Restraint with the Brett is nice to see for a change. --- Beer merged from original tick of Felice on 22 Aug 2018 at 12:11 - Score: Appearance - 6 | Aroma - 7 | Flavor - 7 | Texture - 8 | Overall - 8. Bottle from Compton's Market in Sacramento. Pours hazy orangey gold with a white head that didn't stay long. Aroma of lightly sour tropical fruit. Med body. I think the flavor starts with Brett, picks up some fruits, shows some peppery spice, and gets a bit of earthy wood. Maybe more tart than sour. Dry. Not heavy on Brett, but it's present. Nice stuff.

Draft. Amber beer with a cream head. Tart aroma. Light sour and tart flavor with light white wine and light spice. Medium bodied. Light sourness/tartness lingers with light white wine.
