Aroma of fruits, spices, light hops, lots of malts. Flavour is pretty sweet and spicy. Quite a full body. This is like a very heavy Saison. Interesting, but I’m not too crazy about this one.

Bottle. Deep golden color. Floral yeasty notes and a hint of citrus in the aroma. Sweet, almost sugary alcoholic flavor. Hints of citrus. Peach. Soft grassy notes in the aftertaste. Somewhat disappointing.

33 cl bottle @ home (bottled 12/12/2013). Clear deep golden/light amber color. Dense, rocky off white head with good retention and lacing. Aroma’s: soft fruit (apricot/peach) and anise, with bready malts and some alcohol retronasal. Flavor is moderate sweet, light herbal, just hints of bitterness. Medium bodied. Quite high carbo. Finish is slightly herbal/spicy and light to moderate bitter.

Not a very good beer, imperial might not work for this saison. Body is very thin and the taste is not dry enough, too sweet. On top of that, it’s a bit boring.

33cl Bottle from De Bierkoning. Hazy golden amber colour, white head. Aroma of sweet spices, anise, sugar, yeast, herbal, alcohol. Flavour is medium-sweet, sugary, quite spicy, yeasty, star anise, herbal minty stuff, nice firm bitter finish which saves the beer a bit, quite dry. Medium-bodied, firm carbonation. Too sweet and spicy for me.

(Draught at Butcher’s Tears, Amsterdam, 28 Feb 2014) Golden colour with frothy, white head. Fruity, malty nose with notes of dried fruit, apricots, candy sugar and floral hops. Malty, fruity taste with dried fruit, bready malt and spicy hops in a finish with a generous bitterness. Almost full body, with a certain sweetness. Quite tasty. Nice one.

Ins Glas ergießt sich ein leicht trübes dunkel goldgelbes Bier mit geringer Schaumkrone. Es riecht sehr nach Gewürzen. Alkoholisch, hefig, stark malzig. Geschmack malzig fruchtig, Gewürze, leicht bitter, alkoholisch.
