Bottle. Black with a wisp of tan head. Aroma of good bittersweet chocolate ( the sort where the sugars are a bit singed), moderate roast, some dark rum (an Australian stout thing for some reason), slight earthiness (seems to be a Cavalier thing and I don’t love it). Barely medium bodied, lowish carbonation. The aroma suggested bittersweet chocolate but there’s not much sweetness - bitter chocolate, roasted flavours that are really only supporting, a finish that dries out even further and is quite bitter. This is an elegant and intense chocolate stout and my favourite Cavalier beer since the first and fabulous batch of their hefeweizen. 7384 16
