37,5 cl bottle @ Timo A. Rated on 16.05.2011
Aroma has oil, berries, oaky notes and vanilla. Flavour is really bitter in a harsh way – feels like a spoiled bottle of Dark Island Reserve. It has some rubber and burned malt. Not good.

Cask gravity @ Battersea BF 2012. Pours a black color with a longlasting tan head. Has a roasted malty licorice aroma with hints of chocolate. Roasted malty licorice and chocoalte flavor. Has a roasted malty licorice finish.

375mL large mouth green bottle, picked up in Cologne, pours up mahogany with very little head. The aroma is fruity with sweet dark fruity esters followed by sugary beet sugars, molasses, spicy rye notes and more molasses like sugars. The taste begins with lots of notes going from spicy rye to wheated like malts to dark candy sugars to molasses and sweet dark fruity esters. The rye mixes with various smooth vague hops keeping the overall flavor lively amidst all the sweetness going on here. It seems to approach maltiness and roasted maltiness but doesn’t actually get there which is odd for the style. Interesting stuff nonetheless.

At ACBF 2011. Smoky aroma. Smoke works well over a malty brown ale. Dry. Good.

Bottled, thanks whoever left this in my fridge! Near black, no head. Aroma of salty licorice and apple. Sweet and syrupy with notes of metal and apples. Harsh and tinny with salty finish. Very unpolished.

375 cl bottle @ home – purchased from Alvinne shop – poured into a mini-cognac snifter & consumed along with a Rafael Gonzalez M. Coronas Extra cigar – very dark mahogany chestnut brown with a non-lasting mocha/desert head – smells rather sweet slight cough syrup & maple syrup dark malts, cinnamon & winter spices, touch dark fruits & booze – lots of prunes upfront, very syrupy, very heavy prunes, caramel, touch cough syrup & plenty of maple syrup, thick liquorish & brown sugar, intensity rises in the aftertaste, very thick almost pudding like, syrup with a touch of dark chocolate, strong sweet spices & hint of dark bread and slightest trace of smoke underneath – warming – body is thick & syrup-like with low carb. – wonderful prune syrup winter beer & definitely not your average stout

375ml bottle. Deep black with almost no head. Oily. Notes of coffee, chocolate, some smoke. Well hidden alcohol. Would appreciate if more German brewers had the courage to do imperial stouts.

Bottle 37.5cl from Alvinne beershop.

Bottle from Galeria Kaufhof, Köln
Black color; it pours oily, with almost no carbonation, eventually just a thin collar. The aroma is mild, stale bread, some chocolate and cookies. Strong body, with a round mouthfeel; the chocolate flavor is very good, with just a correction of roasted malts, and an important share of sugars; correct bitterness; balanced.
This beer is missing better aromatic components, but it’s quite solid in the maltiness.
