Strange, not quite a cider, not quite a pale lager though it retains elements of both (the ale moniker notwithstanding). Is it good as a cider? No, it has the apple juice qualities of many macro ciders. Is it good as a pale lager? No. But in this case the whole is truly more than the sum of its parts. The apple flavors make it a little more flavorful than most pale lagers, and the beer parts make it less sweet and cloying than many macro ciders. On the whole, drinkable.

Sampled from a 12 oz clear bottle this beer poured a dark amber color with a small soapy white head that faded instantly and left a touch of lacing. The aroma was sour and tangy apple juice. The flavor was sour and tangy apple juice with a bit of cinnamon and yeast. Medium length sour and tart apple finish. Medium body. Decent.

Bottle from Smiths 4% version I guess....Pours a clear golden color with a tiny bubble of head. A sweet apple nose. Unoffensive, solid ciderish flavor, some big sweetness, apple pie crust. Decent. Pretty smooth and has a decent big flavor.

12oz bottle from Smiths
Pours clear light golden, no head or lacing. Aroma of plastic apples and sugar. Flavors is sweet, sugary and fresh apples. Not bad, but sweet. Like eating a slice of granny apple but somebody put a big pile of sugar on it.

Taster at Armenetti’s. Not very cidery, at least. Nose and taste are sweet, with apple and malt both noticeable. Adequate, but there’s a touch of flavored lip balm to it as well.

Bottle. Weird artificial apple aroma, almost a BO thing going on. Clear gold with a minimal, instantly disappearing head. Watery sweet commercial apple juice flavor. Light, highly carbonated body. Tastes more like a macro cider.. nothing ale about it at all.

It pours a clear golden color leaving a half centimeter white fizzy head that rapidly died. Lots of fast rising bubbles were seen. The body was very clear. The smell is apple cider with faint caramel in the background. The taste was extremely sweet with apple cider and caramel dominating. The palate was light and slightly smooth. It was extremely sessionable, leaving a sweet dry aftertaste and finish. Overall, is this really beer? I don’t think it is. This is hard cider.

12 ounce bottle from a Kroger. Pours a clear amber color with a thin fizzy head. Poor head retention. Aroma of musty, sweaty apples. The taste is sweet, grainy apples. Thin, watery. It’s nothing more than apple juice. And not good apple juice.

I’m not sure what possessed me to make this purchase, but here we have a brilliantly clear deep golden liquid with a small smattering of white bubbles that disappears almost instantly. The aroma is initially sulfur and apples with a hint of brown sugar and cinnamon. Its hard to find anything ale like in the aroma, this smells like an alcopop cider. The flavor is wow pretty bad actually. Brown sugar mixed with apple flavoring and a headache inducing artificial sweetener flavor that I can’t get out of my mouth. Medium body with a light level of carbonation and a sweet sickly artificial mouthfeel. I couldn’t finish this.

Bottle. Tried from a friend who brought it - I had low expectations (apple flavor/fruit beer/miller brewing co) so I didn’t expect much. Not awful, I can see the appeal and market for this beer - just not my style in any way.
