A hoppy ruby red ale at heart, this uplifting beer raises a classic British style to new heights. Citrus and floral notes from the aromatic New World hops perform a spectacular balancing act against the rich and robust smooth caramel and bready sweetness thanks to the traditional English malts, before a long moreish crisp citrus finish leaves you gasping for more.

330 ml. bottle @ home. Purchased @ Caigny. BBF 06/08/2015. Light hazy dark brownish amber, spotty mocha / tanned head. Nose is light pine hops, chewy malts, some caramel, toffee, hops are clear. Taste is lightly bitter, touch metallic bit thin malt, caramel malt, light herbal malts, light pleasant toffee, candy aftertaste, light herbal metallic,… Touch thin body. Caramel. Decent but could be richer but that would probably require more malts, higher ABV etc. Feels a bit emptry.

Bottle at Birratrovo, Como
Dark red amber color with medium head. Some aroma of roasted malt and coffee. Round mouthfeel, good caramel flavor, but then there is some dusty coffeish dark malt; some resins from the hops, but they are hidden. Roasted and ashy malts in the final.
Not impressed.

Bottle, Chester Beer & Wine. Reddy brown pour with a big foamy head. Nose of sweet malts, nuts and hop. A simiilar yarn flavour-wise with notes of toffee and spice alongside some decent enough hop bitterness. Teeters on the edge of mediocrity and not my favourite style really.
