At Keg & Brew, Surry Hills. Muddy looking light brown. Medium head. Lots of alcohol. Minimal nutty character and otherwise a blast of alcohol and sweet F all else.

Bottle #446 of 700. Aroma is brown ale on steroids, with plenty of alcohol warmth also evident. Despite the ABV kick, taste is smooth and woody, and a hint of molasses sweetness. Pours out clear dark brown with fast disappearing beige airy head. SmalI hint of dry nutty flavor lingers.

750ml bottle 446 of 700 thanks to Steve for hauling this back from Australia. Pours out a dark brown topped with a tan head. Nose is malts nutty notes vanilla and some sweetness. Taste is more of the sweetness malts wood nuttiness.

From a 330ml bottle on 13/8/2014. Pours a dark cola colour with a medium off white head. The aroma features some caramel, stewed fruits and some basement notes out of the glass. Take a sip and there’s lots of sweet dark fruit (plums, prunes), caramel and chocolate, with a slightly sharp, boozy bitterness at the back. It has a rich, sticky palate and relatively lively carbonation. This is solid and enjoyable but not overly complex, and simply not in the same class as the Nail Imperial Porter I downed last night.

Bottle. Very dark brown with an inch of beige head. Laces well. Aroma of hazelnuts, sticky fruit buns, chocolate, toasted seaweed. Fairly overt alcohol unhappily masks some of the flavours, but sweet bread, nuts and chocolate come through. Firm bitterness. Booziness really spoils the party for me.
