Tap at St. Urho’s Pub, Helsinki. Poured a clear dark brown with a frothy off white head and some broken lace. The aroma is roasted malt, coffee, dark chocolate. The flavour is strong bitter with big roasted malt liqourice bitter, light toffee, alcoholic palate and a long bitter finish. Medium bodied with soft carbonation. Tasted a little more alcoholic than it was.

(bottle) Almost black coloured hue with a slightly ruby shine and a big and beige foamy head. Sweet and strong caramel-laden malty aroma with earthy and leafy notes, also hints of nuts. Moderately sweet and roasty bitter flavour, medium bodied with a soft carbonation. Earthy roast-malt character with chocolate and caramel, backed by liquorice spice; mildly sweet and roasty bitter finish with chocolate and caramel; the alcohol is fairly well integrated. 12.VI.14

Bottle from Alko in Helsinki, shared in Osaka. Pitch black pour with a crazy intense beige head. The aroma is all smooth roasty chocolate. Full bodied silky smooth with an active carbonation. This beer is tons of different chocolate, delicious smooth creamy chocolate. Very good stuff as all Huvila beers I’ve had are.

0,5L bottle, BB 28.11.2015. Pours jet black with small tan head. The head stays for a moment, nice lacing. Aroma is sweet, caramel, fruity notes, roast and metallic hints. Taste is sweet and coffee bitter, caramel, smoke, and fruits. Finish is coffee bitter. ABV well hidden. Overall: great beer. Well balanced and very drinkable. --- Beer aliased from original tick of Huvila X-Porter on 10 Oct 2017 at 21:37 - Score: 8. Original review text: Happy birthday, Finland!
(Rate from backlog. No Finnish beers at home :( . The best Finnish beer I have tried.)

Flaske 0,5l fra Vinmonopolet, bestillingsutvalget. På RV124 9 Mai 13. Svart. Høyt - litt farget skum med litt lacing. Aroma av melkesjokolade. Smaken det samme. Blir etter hvert litt syrlig. En bra - men litt lett - porter. Antydning til sedimenter igjen i flaska.

Bottle. It pours near black with a small tan head. The nose is roasted malt, coffee, cocoa, toast and dark fruitiness. The taste is rich roast, toast, ash, earth, caramel, mild acidity, cocoa, coffee and some alcohol with a dry finish. Medium body and moderate carbonation. Nice robust porter. Good depth of flavour. Tasty.

Bottle. A dark brown one, topped by a small, dark beige head. The aroma has chocolate, some coffee and molasses hints, and I think I spot some dried fruits as well. Dark bitter chocolate, molasses and coffee in the flavor. It’s full-bodied and soft on the palate, semi dry, with dark, bitter chocolate in the finish. A pretty pleasant and interesting beer, still I don’t feel excited and I don’t feel an urge to get more of it. 130508
