26 June 2018. Sample at 't Taphuys, Tilburg. Shared with Anke.
Clear dark golden with a big, foamy, off-white head; lots of lacing. Aroma of bready malt, yeast, resinous hops, pine, apple, orange. It tastes medium hoppy bitter, notes of hay & grass, sourish & yeasty, with a light fruity & bready sweetness in the back. Dryish, yeasty, spicy & resinous hoppy finish. Medium body, slick texture, soft carbonation. Decent enough IPA.

Flesje thuis gedronken. Oranje-achtig rood bier met matig schuim. Aroma is fruitig en hooiachtig. De smaak is fruitig als van kers en abrikoos maar ook hoppig. De nasmaak is licht bitter.

Frothy white head stayed well on a hazy dark golden, finely carbonated body. Minimal floral aroma. Medium bodied, minimal carbonation & a dull, soft finish. Malt forward tastes with hops, pine, pepper and plenty of diacetyl to boot.

Golden colour with lasting head. Aroma and flavour have a lot of piney, resinous hop. Slightly skunky.

From Jun 2006

Poured from corked and caged 750ml bottle a hazy reddish gold with light carbonation and a medium sized head of foam that sticks around forever and has nice lacing.

The smell has a nice grassy hoppy nose to it but I also get a good wiff of caramel malt.

The taste is big and bold! Huge sweet caramel malt up front with a bit of grassy and citrusy hops(love them Fuggles and Goldings) right behind it and man, after a few sips, you get the feeling that this is gonna balance out but...it doesn't. Make no mistake aboot it, this is a malt dominated IPA and it works so darn well! My hat's off to Meantime!

Bottom line: Best example of an English IPA I've ever tasted and I hope to buy more on my next visit to Colorado. Folks, this is a winner!!

Bottle at home, 20/08/17. Clear rich golden with a well appointed off white head that retains well. Nose carries an Old Skool edge with caramel malts, biscuit, orange peel, grass, light spice. Taste comprises toasted grains, straw, light mineral notes, caramel, biscuit, orange pith, lemon rind. Medium bodied, fine carbonation, drying close with moderate hop bitterness. Run of the mill Old Skool IPA but sippable I guess.

Bottle split at JF’s, thanks to Tony, 23/08/13. Very lightly hazed golden amber with a good sized light beige head. Nose is caramel malt forward, citrus, hops, grass, bitter hop notes. Taste comprises caramel malts, sugar, light pine, hop notes, bitter orange. Medium bodied, fine carbonation, light hop bitterness in the finish. Pleasant enough affair, no hop bomb but drinkable stuff.
