Saku Tume is Estonia's only strong dark lager, brewed on a combination of pilsner, Munich and caramel malt, as well as burnt sugar. This gives the beer its special dark colour, unique sweet taste and a rich fragrance bouquet.
A characteristic of dark beer is that in order to get a better feel for its taste nuances, it has to be enjoyed at a slightly warmer temperature. Whereas the ideal serving temperature of light beer is considered to be 6-8 °C (straight from the fridge) the ideal temperature for drinking Saku Tume is 11-15°C.

0,33 l can. BB 21.07.2025. A darkest red brown with a more than one finger pale beige head in the glass. Looks really good. Sweeeet malty aroma. And it smells (!) sticky. Fruity and some wood. Taste starts dark malty, resin, sweet dark fruity, some wood elements, resin. Alcoholic. A little bit too much of everything. Below average carbonation.

Bottle via Rimi, Tallinn. The ABV and also the character of this beer almost put it in the porter territory. Medium body, med-high carbonation. Medium bitterness and medium sweetness. Med-light chocolatey and slightly coffeeish malt character, light caramel too. Also med-light dried fruit character present. Quite clean otherwise, no major flaws, easy drinking. Subtle warmth. Actually a good beer.

500 ml bottle from Alko in Helsinki. Nutty nose, caramel, chocolate, rich bready malts. Dark brown, clear, with a medium, tan, airy head. Very malty, slightly burnt caramel, nuts, dark chocolate and a touch of coffee. Slightly too roasty for a bock but decent. Body is a bit thin, not chewy like I prefer. Overall not bad but a bit boring.
