Tailpipe is a big ass brown ale. Like a classic 1950’s American automobile, Tailpipe is bold, brash and great to look at yet wholly inappropriate for modern times. This beer is fully loaded with German Pilsner Malt and a selection of roasted malts. Aggressively hopped, this beer is not your daily drive - it’s the beer you take out for a spin when you want to show off to your mates.

Draught, Great Ocean Road Brewhouse. Dark red. Thin head. Toasty, lightly fruity, full body, good bitterness. Nice balance strong red ale.

Tap. Dark brown, offwhite lace. Caramel aroma. Coffee roast and caramel malt flavor, sparkly citric and grassy hop counterpoint. Medium body, would’ve been sticky if not for the firework hops - these guys know how to clear your palate, great!!

Pours dark brown with a large, lasting head.Nose shows chocolate and roasted malt alongside spicy characters, hints of cinnamon and booze.Flavours are pretty eclectic. Lots of roasted malt with some faint cocoa, but also heavy grapefruit and pine. The finish is a little chalky/ashy, and there’s an underlying sweetness that’s almost cloying.Carbonation seems a little high. The mix of flavours is a little brash but otherwise a good beer.

Bottle. Dark brown with a large beige head that fades but laces nicely. Aroma of nuts, chocolate, something herbal that I can’t identify. Taste is sweet and very nutty with chocolate; grapefruit and spices come in in a modest bitter finish. Smooth texture is slightly syrupy. Tasty brown ale, but the hop flavours didn’t mesh with it for me.
