Aventinus, the Wheat Doppelbock of Bavaria, has always been known to be the most intense and complex wheat beer in the world. This was the case for the past sixty years, but not anymore... Up until the 1940’s, Aventinus was shipped all over Bavaria in containers lacking temperature control. Consequently, the precious drink partially froze during transportation. Unaware that the brew was concentrated by the separation of water from the liquid. People were baffled by this unique version of Aventinus. By chance, the first Aventinus Eisbock was created. Well aware of this story, Hans Peter Drexler, brewmaster of the Schneider brewery, decided to recreate this classic "mistake" in a modern controlled facility. Thus, the Aventinus Eisbock is reborn sixty years later ... Prost!

0,33 l, bottle.
My first Eisbock and quite a heavy beer.
Medium head, which disappears pretty quickly.
Flavor shows notes of nuts and caramel.

Aromas are dark malt, raisins, dates, wet grain and clay. Flavors are similar to nose. On the sweet side but with enough bitter and carbonation to balance. Add in a touch of carbonic tart. Really good. A little warmth in the finish.

Aromas are a kind of cross between doppelbock and hefeweitzen - malty dark, roasty yet with the banana clove slightly tangy. Just right mouth. Really good. A classic.

It is a great beer like the normal aventinus, same tastes but it is still better, close to the perfection, powerful, giving happiness, 22.04.2016, buying it at beer lovers probably, drinking it at Lausanne, Prélaz.

Bottled. Its too damned dark at rabbit club to see the coloration. Nose is yeast and bananas esters. Sip is acidic and sour. Alco is noticeable but not so for 12 percent. Good but not my cup.

Bottle. Whew! This is some good stuff! Dark brown/amber. Smelled of dried fruits, cherries, spice. Great taste. Goes straight to your head. Great beer. Everyone should try this one at least once. (Have to re-rate because of trying Kulmbacher)

Bottle shared at home. Pours deep ruby with no head. Nose is sweet fruity, grainy and auite boozy. Taste follows the nose, closing with warm, sweet boozy finish. It has medium body, soft carbo, and is easy to drink. Pleasant brew.
