(bottle, 33cl) Slightly unclear, deep golden colour with a big off-white foamy head. Bready and slightly oxidised/buttery malty aroma with notes of caramel and a tinge of herbal hops. Sweet flavour, medium bodied with a modest carbonation. Bready cara-malt character with notes of popcorn and a subtle fruity touch; moderately sweet cara-malty and mildly hop bitter finish with the absence of any spices. Quite rounded brew. 16.II.13

Bottle @benzai. Hazy yellow to orange, lots of floaties and a small white head that doesn’t last too long. Smells a bit old, musty, malts. Tastes a bit musty, dusty, malty, sweet. Typical Belgian beer. Medium body, low carbo.

Connecticut St Liquors, DC 330ml ($4): Pours an orange colour with a white head. Aroma is ambiguously malty, with a hint of something that I am loath to call spiciness. Taste is sweet, maybe too sweet. I don’t know how this is a Tripel because this tastes like an ambiguous Belgian Strong Ale to me. This is really a one-dimensional ale, which I will be perfectly content with never drinking again.
