XX-bitter is our most bitter, high-fermenting beer. Despite its low alcohol content, it produces a very rich, long lasting, full flavour.

Taste: Very bitter but still balanced. Long-lasting, distinct hop taste.

0.25l tap. Unclear orange yellow with a creamy head. Vanilla, butter, coriander, orange zest, lemon zest, resin. Hoppy bitterness, fruity citrusy sweetness. Full bodied, creamy texture, soft carbonated, hoppy zesty bittersweet finish. Great!

Bottle, 0.33l. Cloudy copper pour, two finger frothy white head, long lasting, lots of sticky lacing on the glass. Nice on the nose, floral and hoppy notes, citrus, ripe fruits, yeast, candy. Medium body, soft carbonation. Smooth mouthfeel and texture, soft and chewy, light stickiness, goes down quite nicely. Balanced taste, bitter with sweet notes in the background. Aroma of citrus peel, grapefruit, yeast, caramel. Ripe tropical notes, candy. Grassy background. Long lasting finish, dry, long lasting bitterness. Pretty good.

Bottle drunk after eating a substantial amount of Red Leicester with a bunless burger. Mild nose of yeast and citrus on amber beer with a short-lived head. Nice chewy flavor with cara hints, almost rye-like; thin body on the aftertaste. Lasting IPA level bitterness but with more traditional piney/earthy hop flavors for the most part. Re-rate March 2024: big bottle with Bob and Max. Way better than before, up from 3.4 to 3.8. great crunchy flavor with big smooth bitterness. Must have gotten a badly stored bottle last time.
