Bottle from Beers of Europe. Hazy brown with a lasting beige head. Too much fizz. Bit metallic up front, then malt, brown sugar, and a hint of wood and dark fruit. There's a slightly off note like stale marzipan in the mildly drying finish. It's fairly simple, and the fizz and metals give it an industrial hint. A sub-par dubbel which is a slightly disappointing way to tick off my final Belgian region.

Bottle from Drinks Vanuxeem, Ploegsteert, Belgium. Label: 6.8%abv Pours a murky caramel brown colour with a medium sized creamy beige head. Aromas of red berries, jam, caramel and chocolate. Taste is very similar to the aroma with more berries, jam, caramel and chocolate. A touch of sweetness but nicely balanced out. Medium body with average carbonation. This is a very nice Brune and above average for the style. I will definitely try this again one day. I am quite surprised by some of the low ratings and bad reviews for this beer.

330ml bottle [thanks Bernd!]. Clear, redd-ish, dark brown colour with average to huge, firm, frothy, moderately lasting, minimally lacing, dark beige head. Sweet-ish, dark malty an dyeasty fruity aroma, notes of dried fruit, some caramel, whiffs of liquorice root. Taste is sweet, dark and caramel malty, slightly yeasty fruity, minimally yeasty spicy, hints of dried fruit, some plum and cherry, a touch of liquorice root. Watery texture, slightly dry, simultaneously minimally cloying palate, medium, prickly carbonation. Sweet, simple - not overly impressive.

One of Silke’s fifty. Brown with a frothy head. Brown sugar, pepper and metal aroma. Faint fruitiness. Taste is sweet with a spicy, caramel sweet end. Medium bodied, well carbonated. Not the greatest, but quite drinkable.

Bottle: Brown color with a touch of orange, chunks of yeast floating. Roasted malt aroma with a touch of porto. Thin to medium bodied. Alcoholic. Roasted malt flavor. Touches of raisin and apple. Roasted aftertaste with some cake dough. Tap: In de Wildeman Amsterdam. Malty, sugary, flowery aroma. Malty, slightly roasted, flowery flavor. Roasty bitterness in the aftertaste. Lacks complexity.
