The flavour of Timmermans Oude Kriek, refermented in the bottle, is without comparison. The cherries from which it derives its taste and colour it features traditionally come from Schaerbeek. Slightly acidic and with a wonderful bouquet, this natural and hence unpredictable brew requires careful handling throughout its long maturation period. Created from a blend of old and young lambic, Timmermans Oude Kriek keeps for 12 years. Like Timmermans Oude Gueuze, this is a precious drink, available in a limited edition only !

Taste-wise… The marriage of genuine lambic, to the cherry - originally the Schaerbeek cherry - always has surprising results, particularly as a spontaneously fermented young lambic is added to the old lambic in the proportion of one to three. This union, in which natural bitterness dominates, will delight genuine connoisseurs of spontaneous fermentation and will surprise newcomers to fruit beers in their most prestigious and noble form.

0.75l bottle, brewed 2012 bottled 2015, thanks Martin & Miro for sharing! Misty red-purple body. Funky, wild aroma, sourish, not that much cherry in there, but some, definitely fruit lambic vibes though. The taste is equally funky, sour, but with a lovely cherry presence breaking through. Minerally, interesting, all-round pleasant oude kriek!

Deep/dark ruby coloured, with a pinkish head that disappears almost instantly. A rather intense but not at all deep or rich aroma: a dough-like base, cherries, just some very light hints of funkiness and vinegar. Taste is much sourer than the smell suggested, and actually pretty sour per style, but it's almost just citric sourness, with just a hint of acetic/vinegar sourness; dough-like base now barely noticeable. Citric notes are mainly (if not only) of lemon, putting cherries on the back of things. Minimal funkiness. Finishes dry with a citric sour reminiscence. An ok but not very deep or interesting taste profile. Light to medium body with quite some carbonation, definitely more than usual per style. A straightforward, firmly sour kriek, but nothing more than that in my eyes.

Bottle thanks to allmyvinyl. Appearance - red and cloudy, slim but attractive red-white head. Nose - wood, vinous and lightly funky. Cherry of course. Taste - cherry wood and general wine and funky flavours. Palate - woody, tangy and dry. Sour with a persistent finish. Overall - very nice. Usually Timmermans is a little sweeter than the other main lambic breweries but this isn't and it's great.

Het is een kersenkleurig bier met een dun schuim. Het heeft een aroma van kersen en zure wijn. De smaak is erg zuur en wrang.
