3 Fonteinen “Intens Rood” (Intense Red) is the result of macerating hand-picked whole sour cherries on lambic for at least six months, in a proportion of one kilogram of fruit per litre of lambic, and is then blended again with more lambic to obtain a minimum intensity of 450 grams of fruit per liter. The kriek lambic ferments in the bottle for at least another six months and develops into an intense wine-like fruit lambic. This bottle fermented, unfiltered and unpasteurised lambic is all-natural with no artificial juices, syrups, or sugars added. Traditional Lambic is living, cultural heritage rooted in the Zenne valley!

(re)sampled in 2025, had this a few times when fresh, but none in the last year (or even decade) . Red color impregnated about 2 mm of the cork. Pours beautifully dark red, somewhat purple, nearly no head. Scent is intense cherry, indeed. Even after all this time, this is a cherry punch in the face. Taste is medium acidic, intense cherry (candied). Very dry. Mild oaky, harsh dryness. More of a 'candied' aspect now, but still very, very , very cherry focussed.

Bottle 0,375ltr with cork: Deep red coloured brew with an well balanced sour taste and beautiful hints of the cherries. 3 Fonteinen goes for the younger crowd by seeing the beer label.

opalescent ruby colour, minimal ruby-ish off-white head, which disappears quickly; aroma of sour cherry, vinegar, woody and dry red wine notes; taste of sour cherry juice, red grape juice, some unripe raspberry, vinegar, woody and vinous notes; great one

375 mL bottle poured. Season 18 - 19. Bright ruby appearance. Lively carb, intense tart cherry, moderate acidity. Long lingering red cherry, very sour with a late almond like note. Late cherry and red wine palate. An excellent, celebration worthy brew.
