3 Fonteinen “Intens Rood” (Intense Red) is the result of macerating hand-picked whole sour cherries on lambic for at least six months, in a proportion of one kilogram of fruit per litre of lambic, and is then blended again with more lambic to obtain a minimum intensity of 450 grams of fruit per liter. The kriek lambic ferments in the bottle for at least another six months and develops into an intense wine-like fruit lambic. This bottle fermented, unfiltered and unpasteurised lambic is all-natural with no artificial juices, syrups, or sugars added. Traditional Lambic is living, cultural heritage rooted in the Zenne valley!

Bottle. Pours deep ruby red. Aroma is sweet cherries, tart fruit, marzipan, light funk. Taste is tart cherries, marzipan, hay, sweet ripe cherries, light funk.

Bottle at Gollem. This was on my hitlist. Dark red, small pink head. Aroma is cherry, not much else. Little bit of funk but hardly there. Taste is good and fruity, but not so exciting. Can't believe this has such a high score. 40% cherries, 100% disappointing compared to the usual oude kriek. Not horrible but loses marks for being totally boring and overpriced.

Corked bottle. Deep ruby red color. Intense aroma of cherry pits, almonds, cherry and oak. Sour oaky flavor with almond. Only the rest sweetness of cherries. Hints of leather. Dry, intense, complex, bretty, excellent.
