Backlog. SBWF2018. Very deep coppery brown colour with a mediumsized foamy beigeish brown head. Aroma is roasted malts, mild coffee, chocolate, nutty tones with some rye bready and biscuity tones to it. Flavour is mildly ashy, roasted, some coffee, mild chocolate, nuts, some biscuits and a bit earthy elements too.

Bottle at SBWF 2018. Almost black with a small head. Aroma of roasted malt, chocolate and some bread. The same in the taste, also notes of earth. The body was medium and the finish quite dry. A bit on the light side.

Bottle 440ml. [ As Mitchells Knysna Raven Stout ].Clear dark brown color with a average, frothy, good lacing, mostly lasting, light brown to beige head. Aroma is moderate to heavy malty, roasted, bread, chocolate, milk chocolate, dusty, solvent. Flavor is moderate sweet with a long duration, earthy, cleaner, dark malt, sweet malt, roasted. Bottle @ Johns. Pours very dark brown with a brown head. Aroma of roasted malt, little caramel, coffee, light wood, chocolate. Flavor is light sweet, malt, caramel, wood, light chocolate. Medium body, average carbonation, light sweet finish. 301216

Bottle. Creamy lightbrown good mostly lasting head. Dark red amber colour. Moderate malty and light hoppy aroma. Light bitter flavor. Some chocolate notes. Average light bitter finish. Oily palate.

Bottle @ Aarhus tasting, my place. Nice head with good duration. Color is black. Aroma and taste roast malt, chocolate, coffee and hops. Dry light roasty finish.

Backlog. From tap at Mitchell’s Scottish Ale House, V&A Waterfront, Cape Town, with HO 10.04.12. Black in colour, off-white head. Aroma of roasted malt with a hint of old Port. Some caramel sweetness. Round mouthfield, little carbonation. Aftertaste of roasted malt and malt bitterness. A good and well-balanced stout.
