Bottle from Loco Liquor in Blairgowrie, Johannesburg
Black color with medium sized brownish head. Light aroma of roasted malt, bread, sesame. Roasted malt flavor, with something strange, burnt vegetables; ordinary bitterness; quite dry, and a bit metallic.
Not very good.

No head to speak of. Jet-black beer. Lactose traceable in the nose. Milkchocolate, thouroughly roasted grains & chaff, chocolate wafers. Slightly sourish onset for medium-sweet, roasted/burnt main flavour. Remarkably little bitterness, and the one in the finish is indistinctly hoppy. Again bit lactic. Spritzy, feels more carbonated than it appears. Smooth, slightly creamy MF, but not very well-bodied. OK milkstout. Many thanks to M&L!

Plastic bottle at the Deanso crappy music tasting. This really was truly awful. I would not waste my time drinking the whole sample.

Bottle shared at Deanso’s bad music tasting. Pours dark brown with a ring tan head. Aroma of rubber, roasted malts and some garbage and rot. Flavour is moderate sweet and light bitter. Medium bodied with soft carbonation. Really not good, couldn’t drink a glass.

Drought at Ferryman’s Tavern. Dark brown color, small tan spongy head, chocolate aroma, slightly bitter coffee taste, long finish. Nice stout.

Dark brown with a thin light brown head. Chocolatey, with a slightly fruity note, somewhere in between a dark mild and a stout. The body is full, but a harsh graininess undermines the sweet chocolate. Finish is a little bit husky.

Draught at the brewery. Pitch black. Roasty with plenty of coffee. Medium bodied with soft mouthfeel and a long, bitter finish containing some licorice. A well balanced, very enjoyable stout.
