This is a very flavorful brown ale that has a hazelnut finish to a rich nutty brown ale. One or two are very pleasant, but I don't know if I'd want to drink several at once - maybe a little too much of a good thing. Very good beer all the same.

Can. Day 14 of the Beer Republic Advent Calendar, in its Hazlenut Brown Ale guise. Aroma combines nuts and caramel. Opaque dark toffee brown. Thick foamy beige head. As per the aroma we have a nuttiness and caramel. However the first impression for me is a a fruity citrusy sweet and sour streak. Medium bodied. Slick to oily. Soft carbonation. Long dry somewhat astringent finish.

This review was imported from my RateBeer ratings.

12 oz. can, 5.6% ABV, Canned on: 10/05/22

AROMA: Strong scent of hazelnuts followed by hints of brown sugar and milk chocolate.

APPEARANCE: Pours a slightly-opaque dark brown with a medium-tan head that dissipates somewhat quickly and has zero lacing. Appearance-wise, the body is a fine looking beer, but the head could use a lot of improvement.

TASTE: Ever-so-slightly sour on the front-end with a fair amount of hazelnut flavor. That is then followed by subdued chocolate and caramel flavors. The finish is lightly bitter with fading hazelnut flavors.

MOUTHFEEL: It is medium bodied with a slightly rough texture. Carbonation seems a little above average.

OVERALL: Not bad, but I don't think I would want to drink more than one of these at a time. Or at least, not without some kind of palate cleanser between beers. The reason being that I found the predominant hazelnut flavor to become "tiring" as I was drinking the beer. The first half of the beer, I found quite enjoyable. But by the last half of the beer my taste buds were ready to be done with the beer.

Another beer that I've reviewed before and has been lost or something. I'm guessing about 20% of my reviews have disappeared. Anyway - I can't think of a better brown ale with a hazelnut twist. Everything is very well balanced and tuned.

Can from Lumiere. Light brown color, slight haze, short beige head. Nutty smell, as expected. Flavor of roasted and caramel malt, chestnut flour, toasted bread, hazelnut, a lot of hazenut, milk&coffee. Orangey flavors on the hops resin. Taste is sweetish, creamy at first, balanced by some sourness, delicate bitterness. Finish nutty, sourish, flavored. Out of the ordinary, not my cup of tea but fun.
