From the hazelnut capital of the United States, this nutty twist on a European brown ale was originally crafted by Rogue Brewmaster John Maier's good friend and avid home-brewer, Chris Studach. Hazelnut Brown Nectar offers a hazelnut aroma with rich nutty flavor and a smooth malty finish. 14°

Bottle. Unclear brown, small head. Malt, dark bread, hazelnut, nougat, citrus, some caramel. Malty sweetness, dry bitterness. Medium bodied, watery texture, lively carbonated, dry malty finish. Okay.

Bottle. Brown color with a hint of orange. Hazelnut aroma, indeed, with caramel. Good lacing. Flavor has hazelnuts, oakleaves, glue and salt. In fact the smell of a fisherman's boat in Scheveningen harbor. Fairly thin, even a bit watery texture. Fishy, caramelly aftertaste. Good, but not entirely convincing.

Bit too sweet for me… Or maybe I shouldn’t try it right after a sour beer?

Beer-Shoop.it 27.04.19

Dark amber to light brown, slightly hazy. A couple of fingers of the slightest off-white head. Scarce retention, still leaves enough lacing. Clean, simple, strong enough aroma shows nutty malts, hazelnut, slight caramel. Taste follows the aroma closely, with dominant sweetness and a hint of bitterness in a balanced enough, quite dry per-style finish. Medium bodied with low to medium carbonation, with a semi-smooth, quite easy mouthfeel. The beer is overall monodimensional, but not unpleasantly so, thanks to good enough intensity plus clean flavour and finish.

Bottle from Be Unorthodox Bit of disappointment. Feels really watery and even though sweet hazelnut flavors are in, it just really feels more watery than it should.

Bottle from Dranken Geers, Oostakker. Pours hazy brown with a small, slowly thinning, off-white head. Aroma of hazelnut paste alright, peanut, salted caramel, walnut (bit earthy), toast, mocha, toffee, raisin, dates, trail mix in short. Taste is medium malty sweet, pure nutty maltiness, hazelnut & peanuts, almost paste-like, with a soft caramelly edge; light roasted bitter core balances roasted nuts & toasted bread, some mocha, a bit herbal-hoppy & faintly yeasty. Dryish, herbal hoppy finish, bit earthy, lingering nutty maltiness & toffee. Medium body, slick texture, fizzy carbonation. Highly drinkable Brown Ale, good introduction too.
