Publick House draught, 10/22/22. Ebony, undetermined clarity. Small, light-tan head, moderate retention. Dark chocolate, light, not sharp alcohol, prune, raisin, vanilla. Yes, it's a strong, roasty perial stout. Why is this so highly rated vs the million others just like it? Can't tell. Soft, malty, heavy chocolate and roast, big prune and vanilla. Thick texture, not syrupy or cloying with good attenuation though pushing it on the heavy roast and bitter chocolate notes. A great example, for sure.

Pretty good imperial stout but the cinnamon and vanilla are barely present and a little molasses and cocoa are equally there. It's good but not great.

Bottle from Drake, shared at share: pours black with brown head. Aroma is dark fruitiness, licorice, leather, light hoppy notes. A bit bitter, somewhat sweet, chewy fruitiness. Quite nice.

Bottle, at share, thanks to me and mansquito, courtesy of Drake. Liquorice, chocolate, dark chocolate, wizened cherry, plum. Good body. Nice, old school.

Virtually black with a creamy, beige head that lingers the duration. Aroma of dark chocolate and cherry liquor with a hint of vanilla. Taste is full of roasted bitterness. Lingering chocolate. A bit boozy at the end. Full-bodied, mild carbonation. Pleasant sipping. 4.0 (25.12.2021)
Second bottle: after over two more years of aging we drank this one on the occasion of Silke’s birthday on 05.03.2024, a pleasant weekday evening with the family. Has mellowed and smoothened out quite a bit with now very little booziness at the finish. Nice!

2020 bottle. Black with a dense light tan head that gradually fades to a cm. Coiled aroma with roast, singed caramel, mocha, berries. Creamy, only fullish bodied for 12% ABV. Sweet with chocolate and berries but that covers a bitter core of coffee, hard roast, spices and hops. That bitterness fades gradually to a point. Perhaps unusually for a hoppy US stout the hop aromatics are not juxtaposed with the rest of the beer. Delicious and harmonious but not very deep.

Ever have a beer step on you. This stepped on me. Black body with medium tan head. Cherry, chocolate, roast malt and coffee aroma. All over the mouth taste, fruit, coffee, chocolate. An interesting tang in the finish.
