Poured into a nonic pint glass, the appearance was a dark brown close to black color with a nice one finger’s worth of white to off white foamy head that dissipated at a nice pace. Sly lacing.
The aroma starts with some roasty coffee and cocoa bean. Some dried dark cocoa powder fluffs it up a bit.
The flavor balances nicely between the sweet and the roast. Sly crisp sweet to roasty aftertaste with a nice sweet finish.
On the palate, this one sat about a light to medium on the body with a nice sessionability about it. Low carbonation helps it feel smooth all around.
Overall, this was a nice porter worthy of having again.

Sample at the brewpub. Pours nearly black with a medium tan head that recedes gradually to a film. Partial rings of lacing on the glass. Aroma of roast malt, chocolate and coffee. Light-bodied with flavors of roasted coffee, chocolate malt and mild piney hops. The finish is roasty with a coffee and malt aftertaste. Decent overall.

Bottle. Black body with a tan head. Aroma of roasted malts, chocolate, coffee and vanilla. The flavor is lightly to moderately sweet and lightly bitter. It finishes lightly sweet and lightly to moderately bitter. Thin to medium body, watery texture, moderate to lively carbonation. Chocolate, roast and toffee taste. The body could be heftier, but an enjoyable porter nonetheless.

Tiefschwarze Farbe mit beigem Schaum. Sehr toller caramelmalziger Schoko-Espresso-Geruch.
--> etwas langweilig. Sehr süffig und gut trinkbar. Aber dafür sogar schon einen Tick zu süß. Schade.
--> 10/12/8/9

A dark brown porter with a thin mocha head. In aroma, sweet caramel malt with light butterscotch notes. In mouth, a smooth sweet chocolate with herbal notes, a bit light. On tap at brewpub, Jan 20 2012.

Enjoyed on tap as part of a sampler at Ale Asylum in Madison, WI. Appearance is a murky dark brown with thin tan head. Aroma is very rich, huge chocolate notes, touch of nutmeg perhaps. Taste is somewhat like butterfinger, chocolate, hazelnut, peanut, very very good. This was hands down the best of the sampler.
