Murky brown - purple beer, small cream coloured head. Smooth palate with mild carbonation. Fairly malty with a trace of marmite. Mild tangy grape juice. Fairly neutral finish. Quite drinkable but pretty simplistic. Overall a bit malty.

$5 bomber at Binny’s from Dec. 2010. So I finally dredge this out dyrubg this year’s Hanukkah. Why not? I’m allowed. Nice brownish, slightly dense pour under a fizzy light tan head. Bright smell, malty with more of a raisin than grape note. Taste is pretty unique; a little musty, like raisins or a bit of prune. Sweet sherry overtones make up for a slight bit of oxidation by my once again letting this stay in my cellar too long.

22oz bomber poured into a shaker. Pours a lightly cloudy brownish purple with minimal off-white head. Aroma of figs and dark fermented fruits with a good dose of concord wine. Taste is medium bitter. Caramel, some pine and some roasty nuts. Medium bodied with a thin texture. Soft carbonation and a long finish. Overall, not bad. Not really what I was expecting but still ok. I wish I would have got this fresh because I’m sure it would be a lot better. But, since I got it for $3 on the discount rack, I’ll gladly finish the bottle.

22 oz. bottle purchased @ Table and Vine, West Springfield, MA. Used a lager glass. Murky brown color (Like muddy river water) Off white head that died fast. No lace. Good carbonation level. Nose smells like Welch’s Grape juice. Tastes of grapes, malt, caramel, fig and nuts. Medium body. Oily texture becomes dry in the finish. A very odd blend. It has a Bock –like quality but… I’m not telling my friends to run out and buy a bottle of this.

Nice copper-caramel body with some carbonation and a solid head. Well-balanced aroma of fruity citrus and grain, this smells very appetizing. Flavour is a good barley and bread mix with just a hint of grape. This is well balanced and extremely tasty, but the mouthfeel is too cloying and leaves some odd weird flavours lingering. Still it’s worth a try.

5ooml bottle split with Ann. I’m pretty sure I had this on tap and rated it as well..Deep, glowing amber-brown color. Thin, frothy beige head. Has really mellowed out in the 8 months of closet life. The juice stands firmly, with some creamy, sugary dark brown chocolate notes. An odd creature certainly, but not so awkward in it’s mix...the flavors do sort of complement each other. A little light in body, somewhat fluffy and watery. Could have used some more rich Dubbel or Doppelbock tones..maybe the grape juice covers them up. Some pleasant dark fruit tones I suppose. OK.

Bomber from BevMo Salinas. Nose is prunes, wheat with slight banana and cough syrup, and some light breadiness. Cloudy brown with a medium beige head. Flavor is molasses and grapes with a bit of light sweetness and a hint of bitterness.Flavors and aromas just don’t meld together well, lots of them there, but not nice to my senses.

Location: 22 oz bottle from Hoboken Vine, 12/28/10

Aroma: The nose is sweet and malty, some grape notes, as well as wood, earth, and booze
Appearance: It pours a brownish color with a slight reddish-purple hue, and almost no head
Flavor: The taste is mostly sweet, lots of grape, dark fruits, and a little earthy hop
Palate: The body is medium, well-rounded, slightly sticky, clean enough, minimal alcohol burn
Overall Impression: I thought this stuff was pretty decent. It is mostly a sweet fruit beer, but it tastes pretty good. I wouldn't rush out for this one or anything, but it was worth trying. Decent stuff that deserves it's L'Chaim! -> To Life!

Pours mahogany tinged black into a stem glass. Off-white head recedes to hug rim. Sweet chocolate and grape aromas. Sweet with upfront dark raisin turning dry in the lasting malted raisin finish. Dopplebock upfront and dubbel in the finish....
