The bottled Thames Welsh ESB starts an opaque dark brown color with a creamy head. Bold, rich malty aromas first leap from the glass. The complex malts offer sherry-like notes. The medium-bodied brew delivers a dry, malty flavor that is well rounded and matched with a very smooth mouthfeel. At 6.5% ABV, it makes an impressive showing as a full-flavored Extra Special Bitter that features more than just hops.

bottle, pours dark amber with a thin off white head. Aroma is toasted malts and carmel. Very sweet bready flavors with a mild hop finish. Not really in the style of an ESB. Alright.

Weak aroma of woody malt ringed with cherries. Brown pour with a thick yellow head. It tastes very woody from start to finish with a bit of tartness at midpalate and a peppery bite. Pretty neat.

Tap @ OTH. Pours hazy brown with beige head. Aroma is grainy with good notes of dark fruits and a fairly present malty nose. Taste of sugary malts, with dark fruits, hops. Is a lot smoother and sweeter than most ESB’s.

Draft @ Redlight. Appealing red color with a khaki foamy head. Surprising berry aromas, strawberry, cranberry, chocolate covered cherries. Flavor has a little more chocolate than berry, but also a new fruit: cassis. Heavy lacing in the glass. Juicy finish.

Aroma of caramel malts, light fruit, and a hint of earthiness. Amber color with a whitish head that diminished but laced. Starts with apple! Then some roasted malt. Sweetness and fruit. Not a great deal of hop. Yet the finish is something like dry, sharp apple. Apple!

Bottle. Sweet caramel, toffee, and orange aroma. Cloudy orange brown color with next to no head. Sweet dried cherry, orange, caramel and toffee flavors - pretty complex. A tad on the light side. Like a light porter/stout. Nice and drinkable.

Bottle. Dark amber brown with a decent off-white head. Aroma of grassy hops and sweet caramel malt. The flavor is mostly sweet malt with a little roastiness/peatiness. Not a typical ESB, but good none-the-less.
