This robust dark ale is surprisingly smooth and drinkable. Caramel, molasses and chocolate flavors fill the palate. Its sweet start is perfectly balanced by a roasted dry finish.

Pours black, under a full, very slowly rising foam, due to the nitro pour on this one. Smell is full, dry, roasty. Taste is creamy, dry, roasty, bit chocolate. Some coffee. Roasty, bit coffee ending. Nice, but not very out of the ordinary.

Sampled on nitro draft at the Frederick MD location this beer poured a black color with a huge creamy beige head that lingered forever and left incredible lacing. The aroma was toasty and a bit smoky with vanilla and coffee notes. The flavor was smooth, toasty, and woody with vanilla cream and light fruity hops. Medium length finish. Moderately full bodied and very creamy. Solid.

21st May 2015: BJ’s Laguna Hills outlet. Part of an eight glass flight. Thought this was the best of the eight beers I tried on the day. Ruby hue to the dark body, on top a lightly tanned foam blanket. Malts all the way here, fairly sweet initially it bottoms out a little drier and roasted latter in the mouth. Hides the alcohol well with it’s depth of flavours. My sweet tooth took to this.
