Pours crystal clear copper with tan head. The aroma comes across as grainy, malty and full of pine hops. The hops keep pushing forward with grassiness, mild earthiness and more pine with a deeper draw. The taste is fairly viscous bringing in an initial brief pulse of thick sweet malts before the pine hop bitterness and grassiness completely take over the flavor. The malts persist deep in the background becoming noticeable from time to time added some depth. But make no mistake about it this is a supremely hoppy brew with mild sense of the ABV in both the nose and flavor.

This beer is a clear dark copper-amber color with a thin ivory white head that dissipates steadily. Stringy lacing on the glass. Aroma of grassy hops, herbs and toffee. Medium-bodied with a strong malty character and flavors of hops, butterscotch and mild spices. The finish is borderline syrupy sweet with malt and butterscotch and enough citrusy hops to keep it from going overboard. Pretty good overall.

Pours a semi-cloudy straw color, with a small, soapy lace - the aroma explodes with alcohol, practically burning my nose hairs off, but trailing behind this citrus/orange character, an abundant earthy hops, as well as a strong malt sweetness - low carbonation, slick mouthfeel - really sweet flavor, with a lot of strong alcohol, creating a medicinal quality that is hard to overlook - the hop combination is quite tasty, as is the orange and pine character it adds to the beer, but that sticky sweetness and alcohol/medicinal character are just too strong to ignore.

22 oz. bottle, purchased 2007. Folks, I’ve built a backlog of IIPA’s in my cellar, waiting to get to them after I polished off the lower gravity beers. Now we’re moving, and I need to empty a few bottles, and the hoppy beers won’t improve with age. So let’s pop this one…
Okay, being classified as a Barley Wine, maybe this might have gained something from aging. Well, it’s been in the fridge longer than the "cellar" and I’ve popped the cap, let’s go…
Pour shows definite BW character. Dark copper body, craggy tannish head. Some phenols in the nose, along with a snigger of hops. When drunk, it’s got a very thick feel, like a runny syrup. Would taste very sweet but for a bulwark of hops holding back the saccharine. Bitterness hangs at the soft palate back of my mouth. Hazy orange impressions, or even orange blossom honey, come as the alcohol warming kicks in. Tiny dregs of yeast, or unfiltered particles left at the bottom of the bottle. Sweeter in total than my standard for BW’s, SN Bigfoot. Final impression is of a mead mixed with extra honey and steeped in hops. We know barley wines can run the gamut of experiences based on how long and how well they’re held. I’ve had this a year and a half, and it’s excellent at this stage.

22oz bomber pours a transparent, copper, orange with a thin, whispy white head. The aroma clubs you over the head, tons and tons of sweet malts and grain, light citrus, ripe fruits. Big nose. Flavor is just as strong with plenty of booze, sweet sugary malts, grapefruits, oranges, brandy, pine tar, lemon rinds. Mouthfeel is very heavy with alcohol and strong lasting bitterness. Big ol’ barleywine that’s ready to drink today.

Bottled at Oliver Twist, Stockholm. Hazy amber, small head. Salty grapefruity aroma. Full bodied with lots of chewy, caramelly malt, as well as citroc hops and alcohol. Full flavoured and very hoppy. Bready and sweaty. Salty very bitter finish. Powerful, yet not brash.

22oz bottle provided by Gregis at my tasting 10/12. Pour is clear amber-orange with pretty much no head. Aroma of sweet caramel malt, slight hoppiness at the tail end. Taste is the malt sweetness (very typical Barley Wine) with some slight heat to the finish. Hop bitterness to the finish. I liked this one, but could have used a bit more age.

Clear orange with a small head. Aroma has the makings of an IPA, but stronger. Sweet malts, over a pine and citrus backbone, with some floral notes. Chewy body. Flavor of pine hops, grapefruit, citrus, malts, and kinda sweet. The alcohol is fairly well hidden. A good one.
