The blackberries we use in Samuel Adams® Blackberry Witbier are perfect for this brew. They deliver a subtle sweetness that balances the traditional citrus flavors from the witbier. The blackberries used in Samuel Adams Blackberry Witbier are sourced from family farms, located at the foot of the Oregon Trail and Cascade Mountains in Western Oregon, where they have been growing some of the best blackberries in the world for centuries. By bringing the blackberries, orange and coriander together with an appealing malt character and a spiciness from the hops, we’ve brewed a flavorful beer with a smooth finish that’s both sweet and tart.

Samuel Adams® Blackberry Witbier is brewed with two-row Harrington and Metcalfe malted barley and generous portions of malted wheat. The malted barley and malted wheat provide the beer with its light body while the coriander and orange give the beer its citrus like aromas. We’ve also added some Oregon Marion blackberries, to give the brew a perfect balance between its subtly sweet and tart flavors.

Bottle. Was very surprised about this one. I would haven’t of dream it would taste this pleasant. It was not overly sweet. In fact it wasn’t sweet at all. Nice fruit flavor that just seemed to be what all beers of this type should strive for.

12oz bottle from Orchard Fresh, Orchard Park, NY. A hazy straw colour with a thin white head; berry aroma with some malt in the background; clean berry taste, but rather sweet. Drinkable but nothing more.

Reviewed from notes.
The appearance had a light orange colored body into a nonic and had a small white one finger head. Very little lacing was left and no rings were left either, some light carbonation was seen rising.
The smell had blackberries and wheat. Some malts were in the background.
The taste had pretty much the same, nothing new from the smell.
The palate sat about a medium and the carbonation was moderately felt on the mouth.
Overall, this isn’t a bad beer. I’d have this again, preferably on tap.

Bottle: Pale golden color, reminiscent of fruit juice. Just a dash of white head. Nose is fruity, like a spritzer or maybe a radler if you use your imagination. Blackberry and Zima. Actually pretty good blackberry flavors up front, but it gets a little vegetal and chalky on the backend. Finishes a little dry with bits of dandelion and florals. I like this in concept, but something to sweeten it up would push it up a notch or two.

Bottle sampled at a tasting event. From notes. Loads of blackberry but not much wit. Some light spices. Not bad.

A holiday guest left a bunch of this in my fridge, so I figured I’d get to ratin’ - seems like there is a halfway decent wheat beer at the base of this (no wit character, though - more like an american wheat) - unfortunately, the pleasant character is swallowed up in a rather artificial, quite sweet berry character, combining with the wheat character to create a flavor not unlike fruit flavored children’s cereal - syrupy finish - the kind of beer you would order for a woman that hates beer.

Bottle. Sour milk and blackberry aroma. Hazy honey gold with a large off-white head. Tart blackberry, wheat malt, and light bitter herbal flavor. Light body, moderate carbonation. The hop character totally screwed this one up for me.

Slightly cloudy gold with a craggy white head. Aroma is slightly wheaty, weakly blackberry....ish. Taste is slightly tart, watery blackberry juice. Very dissapointing....bland.
