The blackberries we use in Samuel Adams® Blackberry Witbier are perfect for this brew. They deliver a subtle sweetness that balances the traditional citrus flavors from the witbier. The blackberries used in Samuel Adams Blackberry Witbier are sourced from family farms, located at the foot of the Oregon Trail and Cascade Mountains in Western Oregon, where they have been growing some of the best blackberries in the world for centuries. By bringing the blackberries, orange and coriander together with an appealing malt character and a spiciness from the hops, we’ve brewed a flavorful beer with a smooth finish that’s both sweet and tart.

Samuel Adams® Blackberry Witbier is brewed with two-row Harrington and Metcalfe malted barley and generous portions of malted wheat. The malted barley and malted wheat provide the beer with its light body while the coriander and orange give the beer its citrus like aromas. We’ve also added some Oregon Marion blackberries, to give the brew a perfect balance between its subtly sweet and tart flavors.

Purchased in Nashville in a mix 12-pack of Samuel Adams. Pours a cloudy honey golden colour with a creamy slightly off-white head with thick lacing and a nice coat on the brew that stays. Very mild carbonation. Beautiful nose of berries with light yeast malt. After that, it kinds of gets disappointing. Not much of the fruit promised in the aromas are in the taste. Mostly grainy malt staying long into the aftertaste. The blackberry is very faint. Tastes more like a wheat beer than a witbier (as I do not taste the white beer yeast). Still nice, but I prefer the Ephemere for this kind of fruit beer.

Bottle. Pours a slightly hazy yellow-gold with a modest, fluffy white head. Wonderful blackberry aroma, very pungent and natural, with some wheat and yeast. Flavor is of moderate sweetness, with some nice fruity notes and a rich, bready character. Light to medium in body, well carbonated. Quite refreshing with authentic blackberry aspects. Good fruit beer.

Bottle from a friend: Pours a hazy light orange with a quickly dissipating white head. Aroma is mostly of blackberries, or at least that is what the nose gives you. Upon actually tasting this beer, it at first tastes like blackberry flavored seltzer, so much so that one could mistake one for the other. However, upon letting the beer stay in your mouth a little longer, one realizes the wheat flavor in the second half and finish of the beer. Overall, not bad. If it were only the front, then it would be mere alco-pop, but fortunately, there is a back to this beer as well. Not really my thing though.

Aroma is a strong, sweet blackberry one. Pours a mostly hazy amber color, with a white head. Flavor is pretty pleasant, highly drinkable. There may not be a whole lot of "real" berries in it, but it’s a relief compared to so many fruit flavored beers out there.

Fruity raspberry taste. Nose is more of the same. It’s as advertised. I thought it went down very nicely. Rated 4/5/10

12 fl oz bottle. Pours hazy orange with a huge off-white head. Aroma is distinct blackberry from a distance. Sweet and citric. Subdued sweet fruity base flavour, mild citric note and a smooth wheat base. Lingering and medium dry blackberry into the finish.

This witbier poured a slightly cloudy, light yellow colour with a quickly living, bright white, rocky head. To the nose there are scents of jam, perfume, hairspray and dough. First taste was smooth and full of Blackberry flavour. The body was a little watery but with a fruit beer that might not be a bad thing since if it had a thick mouthfeel it would probably more like liquid jam. Quite sweet with a perfume after taste. Finish is syrupy sweet with the berry and hairspray flavour lingering.

Refrigerated bottle. The witbier seems to be good by itself. Then the blackbery just seems out of place. Good overall, but I would like to taste the witbier without the blackberry.

Bottle. Poured orange with thin fast dissipating white head. Light aroma of wheat & blackberries. A little blackberry in the finish, mostly some light wheatiness. Almost no finish at all, merely a little blackberriness.
