Rye Like an Eagle is an imperial rye brown ale that’s been skillfully aged in American rye whiskey barrels for a year. Flavors and aromas of dark fruit, toffee, vanilla and oak are vividly alive in this silky creation. Proudly pour this burly brew and savor every sip. Cheers!

Bomber received in trade. Thank you Andrew! Pours dark brownish black with a creamy and frothy pale mocha head that leaves some thick lacing on the glass while dissipating. Smell is malty and tiny spicy with roasted malts, dark rye bread, caramel, toffee, vanilla fudge, charred wood, chocolate, caramelized nuts, black pepper corns and bourbon alcohol. Taste is sweet, bitter, malty and tiny fruity estery. Mouthfeel is soft, round, tiny astringent, slightly boozy and near full bodied. Finish is sweet and bitter with caramel, rye bread, vanilla fudge, charred wood, caramelized nuts, black pepper corns and bourbon alcohol. Nicely fat rye bread malt base with caramel and toffee. Solid barrel treatment. Tasty but a bit hot. --- Beer merged from original tick of Rye Like An Eagle on 16 Jan 2016 at 14:37 - Score: 7. Original review text: Caramel and rye bread malt base. Solid barrel notes. Black pepper corns. Nice but a but hot.

Bottle. Pours deep ruby black, medium creamy brown head, dissipates fairly quickly, decent residual and lacing. Aroma is rich and roasty, cocoa, whiskey, oak, vanilla, hints of coconut, fig. Flavor is light plus sweet, light bitter, lots of barrel influence, but extremely well integrated, hints of rye spiciness, vanilla and non-acidic oak tannins. Fullish body, creamy mouthfeel. Really a solid beer.

Bottle: Poured a black with a brown head. Aroma is strong boozy whiskey, vanilla, oak, and sweet malt. Taste is similar with sticky malts, that are overpowered by complex rye whiskey, vanilla, fruit and some smooth soothing chocolate.

22 oz. bottle, pours a deep dark reddish brown with a small white head. Aroma brings out loads of bourbon barrels, with a touch of spicy rye, caramel and booze. Flavour is super boozy, with lots of rye and bourbon. Fairly complex but very boozy. Solid stuff.
